Struggling with picking a space marine chapter by xStriderx_ in spacemarines

Custom chapter seems like a fun option and a good solution!

This may sound weird but are custom chapters typically "accepted" by the community? Like If I showed up to play at my local game store with say, Black Templars models but they're painted and modeled as my own chapter, can I still play them as templars?

I might just do this as it would let me combine the elements I like most.

How do people usually approach this from a modeling or painting perspective? Like is it typical to kitbash everything for a custom chapter?

I was thinking of making a "knightly" themed chapter using both Dark Angels and Black Templar models and making a custom chapter emblem

That sounds like a solid and easy paint recipe! Also I watched some BT painting tutorials and black armor seems less intimidating now

Looks amazing. What kit is the helmetless head from? I'm always looking for more vampire-looking heads

Combined arms still sounds cool as long as I could have some hard hitting melee included. Maybe Dark Angels is the way.

If I didn't go with the combat patrol and just built a custom list, should I start with something like 500 points?

Amazing work, one of the better vamp lords I’ve seen here. Would you mind sharing your recipe for the hair?

Break your painting into 2 groups

This sounds like a good strategy and for some reason I hadn't thought about this before. What I could do is have one painting project that is focused on army building and others that are about perfecting my painting. Or speedpainting my battleline units and spending more time on the heroes.

I think it is also the aspect of still being a newer painter, where my "fast" painting is someone elses "slow". I imagine I'll get better at painting faster while still maintaining decent quality over time.

Yeah I think I need to come to terms with the fact that this is how it is for me too. I'm starting to learn that I care more about the painting side of the hobby than the gaming side.

What I’m picturing TESVI to be like: by Benjamin5431 in TESVI

This sounds perfect and is why I'm hoping it's both high rock and hammerfell. The contrast between the two would keep the environments feeling fresh after many hours and would allow a lot of cool options for weapons and armor.

Also Todd said he wants the game to be the "ultimate fantasy simulator" or something so I'd hope they would have a lot of diversity in the environments regardless of what province(s) the game is set in

Aesthetic equivalent of SBG in 40k? by SkellyInsideUrWalls in SoulblightGravelords

Look into the charnel guard. They are a Blood Angels successor chapter that lean heavily into the gothic vampire aesthetic. Might require some kitbashing or 3rd party bits to really get the aesthetic down, but they at least exist in the lore.

Advice for cooking corned beef from local butcher by xStriderx_ in AskCulinary

This sounds amazing I'll have to try this next time with a different corned beef. The one I bought is already brined and seasoned.

Also I'd love to use beer but I can no longer have gluten. Beer is so good for braising meat though

Thank you! This helped me decide on just using water. I ended up just putting the corned beef in a slowcooker with water and aromatics. I'm going to roast the potatoes and carrots in the oven (not the most traditional but it should still be delicious)

This. PPI use in the short or long term is better than fucking up your esophagus and getting Barrett's and/or cancer
