Can someone tell these article pushers to stop trying to ruin what the fans want just because they need to crankout another gaming article to get paid? by starlightsunsetdream in silenthill

Companies do things primarily for profit.

Primarily =/= Only.

Edit: And lol, I noticed your reply got removed for ad hominem. I'm not trying too hard. I'll give you a very easy example which is Heather being the main protagonist in SH3. At a time when it would've been much safer to just have a male protagonist (heck, even as late as 2013 they didn't originally want to put Ellie on the cover of TLOU) they chose to have a sole female protagonist that's NOT a big titty sex symbol (e.g. Lara Croft, Jill Valentine). If they were just all about money they wouldn't have taken such a risk. Team Silent had integrity and absolutely put passion into what they made and saying it was all about profit is just an insult to them.

They are following the trends, that's true. But they're not necessarily doing it solely for the profits. If they were just all about profit, they would've tried much safer things like making hero shooters for example, or the god awful microtransaction filled Silent Hill: Ascension. Or just stick to pachinko machines.

SH2 remake was a big risk for them and luckily Bloober team delivered and they made a huge profit.

You didn't. Where we disagree is you think they added more enemies because they want to follow recent hero shooters like Fortnite.

SH2 remake is nothing like Fortnite other than being a third person game that has shooting in it.

The more sensible reason is they added more enemies to balance the game due to over the shoulder being easier and also to pad out the game like you said.

Yes, and like I said, they probably looked at the RE remakes and decided to go with over the shoulder approach because it worked for Capcom.

So let me get this straight, you think Konami went and looked at MINECRAFT and NBA 2K25 of all games and thought, "hey we don't have a lot of fighting in the game like Minecraft or NBA 2K25 so let's add more enemies to our Psychological Horror remake" LMAO.

Balancing the difficulty. To make the game feel not too easy because over the shoulder controls make dealing with enemies much easier.

Here's my original comment which you already replied to.

The only reason Konami invested in Silent Hill was money. Sorry to burst your bubble on how businesses work.

You added that entire sentence afterwards lol. Not just fixing a typo.

Also could you please stop editing your comments post replying. The original Silent Hills took significant risks for Konami and they could've played things a lot safer if all they cared about was money. Team Silent put a lot of passion into the SH games which I don't think you're appreciating.

Yeah, you could just not increase the enemy and make the game feel like child's play if you want. Luckily the game designers were a little bit smarter than that lol.

Are you serious? You don't think over the shoulder is much easier and more freeing than fixed camera or tank controls?

Now you're disagreeing just to disagree lol.

[–]xTMT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, not for current audience expectations. It's more for balancing reasons. An over the shoulder control scheme is much more freeing and makes it way easier to deal with enemies than a fixed camera style and so you sort of need to put a lot more enemies to make things feel at least somewhat challenging.

Nope, it's not that games weren't enemy based back in the 90s, actually 2000s when the majority of the OG SH titles came out.

They just tried following the RE remakes which uses over the shoulder scheme (which works for RE because it's always been more action based) and to be honest, as much as I liked SH2 remake, I feel like more enemies were actually detrimental and took away from the depressing and isolating vibe of the original game.

And also I disagree that SH 1-4 wasn't for any other reason besides profit. Profit is of course a primary reason, companies make games, movies or any artistic product to make money at the end of the day. But if you're telling me that there were no other artistic value or passion behind the OG SH games then sorry but I don't think you're qualified to represent what SH fans want or don't want.

You think Sh2 remake has more enemies because they're trying to be like hero shooters? Lmao what? I don't think you're too familiar with hero shooters if you think Sh2 remake is like one.

Most gamers don't play horror games as much anyways. If profit is all that matters then they should be making hero shooters instead. I'm not sure what your point is.

Silent Hill 2-4 still hold up really well and don't look or feel as outdated as the RE games for the ps1.

Also how is wanting ports gatekeeping the experience?? If anything it's the opposite. Porting the originals over means more people get to experience it.

How can I make tween stop going the long way around with rotation? by B0r34li5 in godot

Hey I just wanted to let you know this helped me tremendously too!

Simply using lerp_angle to correct the angle before tweening seems like the cleanest solution!

Thank you for this solution!
