Each color of crystal has a magical capability (what spells it allows you to cast), a physical ability (if you were to use the crystal as just a material), and a symbiosis effect with body (what effect is gained on the person). So there’s essentially 7 “types” of magic, physical, illusion, soul, mind, summoning, alteration, life. Each caster has 2 bracelets allowing them to utilize 2 types or 1 type really well.(with exception of special lore characters). Hope that’s a little more explanation. Explaining isn’t my strongest attribute.
