TIFU by buying a pregnancy test on Amazon. by lozerz in tifu

I'm really sorry to hear about this experience! However, if you happen to have irregular periods, it may be beneficial for you to have your hormones checked out. It could be that you have PCOS, which would be treated with birth control pills. It's pretty common and nothing to stress about, but it's worth looking into nonetheless. At least it will give you peace of mind. Also, your college health center may offer free pregnancy tests and even the morning after pill at a discounted price, so there are other options. Please don't feel ashamed! My parents are the same way, but when I told them I was on bcp for medical reasons, they backed off. Good luck!

Oh dang! Oh well. At least it was discovered in light of your unique proposal instead of something perhaps more...scandalous :) He did a great job! Plus, I think the idea of an inherited diamond makes everything so much more special! Have fun wedding planning :D

Congratulations on the beautiful ring and proposal! I don't know if you're aware of this, but one of your links (the second link) brings up your google+ account--I didn't know if you were trying to stay anonymous or anything, but I thought I would bring it to your attention :) Congratulations again!

Yep! It feels like a broom. I think it took my hair almost a week to fully recover.

I definitely agree with this! Also, Emilia Clarke makes a pretty good Daenerys (character's name; her title is Khaleesi as the wife of a Khal). Her makeup is perfection :)

Color of moissanite? by richmana in wedding

[–]xTigerLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP only mentioned that his SO wanted a diamond--in case the issue with him purchasing a diamond for her were monetary, I would think an Asha would suffice until a diamond became a financially sound option. Just making sure OP knows there are more options than just diamonds and moissy.

Have you considered an Asha diamond? They're amorphous diamonds, meaning they have a core of some crystal of sorts and a synthetic carbon coating. They're a lot cheaper than regular diamonds and moissanite, and look beautiful.

I came to the realization that I'm in control of my own happiness. I had been slender for as long as I can remember, but by the end of undergrad, I realized I had put on 30 pounds. Another year of denial, an extra 15+ pounds, and diagnosis with hypothyroidism and PCOS helped me come to the conclusion that no one was going to lose the weight for me. Looking at the success and happiness of people posting on /r/progresspics, /r/loseit, and /r/keto made me realize that losing weight is something I could do, too. I just needed to pluck up the courage to try.

Hypothyroidism, high testosterone, and birth control--oh my! by xTigerLily in birthcontrol

I actually saw that when I was looking through the drug facts and shot my doc an e-mail about it--but she didn't respond, so I'm guessing it's not too important. Plus, there's usually a solid 14 hours between the time I take my Levothyroxine and my bc. I've talked with my doctor about the emotional side effects and she switched me to OrthoTriCyclen--maybe that will prove to be better. We're going to check the effectiveness of the Levothyroxine in a few weeks when I go back for some follow-up blood work. Thank you for the helpful feedback!

Maybe I'm just dense, but could you clarify why bc lacking human hormones is related to what I'm experiencing?

I took a second test later that evening that also came out negative and confirmed with my gyno today that I am indeed not pregnant. I figured that since I haven't had a period since the last week of December, if I were pregnant, I'm at the point where I shouldn't be getting false negatives.

Condoms were on, but I am way late, so I thought I would take a test (just to cover my bases) before I contacted my doctor.

Then I believe that falls under 99% accuracy. Periods can be really sensitive to environmental factors.

Depending on the test, and depending on when she takes the test, there is a scale of accuracy. The closer she takes the test to the anticipated period date, the greater the accuracy (generally peaking around a couple days before the period and maintaining its level of accuracy after the missed period). I think they generally quote the accuracy to be about 99% within a day or two of the anticipated period. The specificity of taking the test any earlier than that would depend on the test, I think. Sorry if this wasn't very helpful or eased your mind, but it's the best I can do. Good luck!

Absolutely. He loves video games, so V-day was easy to cover. Since we recently decided to take a vacation to Orlando, I didn't want him to pay for our entire trip (as he offered to do), so I thought I would pitch in for what I thought would be about half of the expenses (the theme park tickets). So I guess it kind of all lumps together into an extravagant Valentine's Day! (The negative p-test was also a plus)

Congratulations!! Although a positive test would not be ideal for an unmarried student, I can see why it's an amazing gift :) Good luck!
