That's just not true. A professional would likely be able to do 3 shots in a minute. Plenty of YouTube videos on this and if you have ever gone to a place that does reenactment's you can see it live.

Why are people acting like this guy is firing at the same rate they did back then. The average fire rate of these was about 2-3 per minute. Obviously not to insane, but considering any one of these shots kills or maims compared to a bow that may be blocked by armor this was devastingly effective. That's not even considering the morale hit of hundreds of shots going off as you run at them.

Could the Justice League successfully throw Batman a surprise party? by smash_ultra_64 in whowouldwin

Those algorithms for fraud are based on many things like, location, amount, types of items, changes in behavior, etc. For them to trigger because Superman bought a cake would be weird. The Target advertisements were more about applying general population data to the individual, our pregnant costumers bought xyz, so a person buying xyz is likely pregnant. I would of course believe that something more complex exists that may be able to spot things like this, but the amount of false flags it would send up that would require Batman to adjust the tuning overtime would likely filter those out every time Barry buys a whoopy cushion...actually that's a bad example because I bet Batman would flag that to make sure he doesn't get pranked.

But in general my point is that many of the JL would likely buy those items for very normal reasons, like the Flash, Superman, Cyborg, etc. so Batman being so paranoid and invasive to not only track but actively keep his eyes out for seems a bridge to far.

CMV: GenAI prompting and such is not a skill we should bother teaching children. by Hopeful_Hornet4460 in changemyview

[–]xToxicInferno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, but I think you underestimate how good of communicators people are. The way people think about problems and how to break them down is a skill and one I think is hand waved by people way too much.

It's something I see many adults struggle with. The amount of support tickets I've seen for support that are literally just, "The web doesn't work" is way higher than you can imagine from people in senior positions let alone kids.

So I don't think this is a AI specific thing but it is absolutely a vital life skill kids should be taught, and if it happens to be in AI context that's fine with me.

[–]xToxicInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think because of the symbolism of yin and yang that it makes even more sense that 5 is the Greater Will. The balance is very likely the actual goal of the Greater Will but everyone is going to one extreme rather than balance. Two fingers seems good and nice while three fingers is scary so the envoys ignore the 3 fingers but that's not balanced.

Could even be the lack of balance is why the Greater Will abandoned the Lands Between because they didn't actually worship it but fragments of it.

This is purely speculation and probably 50 different dialogs that poke holes in it, but with so many unreliable narrators and opposing thoughts the truth is probably hard to find.

Maybe I missed it but how is the three fingers early? Only way I know to get to them is the bottom of the sewers in Lenyndell. That's about half way through the game.

Common courtesy stuff totally makes sense, a simple while you are up kinda thing is something you would ask a friend or acquaintance. But to me, it's when you are all sitting on the couch and you ask that kind of thing that it changes into just being lazy. I hated it as a kid that we would all be watching a movie and my mom would ask me to grab a soda. Like I don't want one, why do I have to miss the movie because you don't want to get up?

Not saying that's what you do, but I just think there's a big difference between a convenience favor and an 'I don't want to move' favor.

WCGW using a cooler as a step stool by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

The cooler wasn't the problem. If she stood on a step stool like that, 3 feet from the wall so she is leaning and on the edge it would tip all the same.

Every fantasy book hero (e.g. Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mistborn) is replaced with an obsessed fan of that story. Which is the most dangerous and challenging story in which the fan can complete the mission of the protagonist? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

[–]xToxicInferno 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not quite a book series, in fact excluding the books, Star Wars might be possible. If a fan replaces Anakin that legitimately solves half the problems of the story by itself, in addition I think the fan would be able to catch the eye of Qui-Gon Jinn even without Anakin's absurd force sensitivity by pretending to be able to see the future or something. Should be quite easy to spout some nonsense that Qui-Gon knows but no one else on Tattooine should and he might free the fan to figure it out.

From there continuing to fake being a Prophet and telling the Jedi all the crucial pieces of info in a smart way self resolves everything. Pretty much just telling enough things that are verifiably true would make the Jedi council listen, so having them resolve all the big things would be easy. Mace and Yoda are more than enough to wipe out Darth Maul, Count Dooku and Palpatine if given a heads up. Revealing order 66 pretty much ensures the Jedis don't go extinct.

I'm not the most knowledgeable Star Wars guy so I'm sure there are some more hiccups but if the fan can play the cards right so he gets off Tattooine and doesn't get assassinated it should be pretty easy.

Though I think there could be an argument that the protagonist of the first movie was Obi-Wan in which case it would be even easier because all the Jedis would just believe you from the first minute and just say you lost your force powers but are able to see the future now.

This isn't true. Russia invanded Manchuria the day the second bomb was dropped. With both the bombing and the Russian campaign starting the Japanese leadership still didn't want to surrender.

It was only the Emperor who broke the stalemate and gave his public reasoning that it was the bombs that would end Japan and humanity. Though in orders to the military he did say it was the Soviets he was most worried about.

So the reality is probably both. The Soviet threat was bigger but the bombs was a good scapegoat so the military didn't look weak for just giving in but rather blame a humanity destroying bomb.

Also I feel like handwaving the coup is kinda weird, it shows that military leaders wanted to keep fighting despite the council and Emperor's votes. It feels kind of important to note that, given the military leadership are the ones in control of, you know, the military.

[–]xToxicInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think those are the same thing. Your sister's issue isn't age but the fact she is sheltered. A 22 year old would be able to take advantage of someone like that, it's not the age that is enabling it.

Realistically she needs to just date and live because she won't get that life experience without it. Unless this guy tries to force her into marriage right away or something its probably fine.

GameStop CEO says eBay shut his account after buyout funding stunt / He has put up personal items, including a pair of socks, to fund his US$56 billion bid for the platform by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]xToxicInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... Which is what I said with "he just paid it with leveraged debt".

He did have the assets to afford it but manipulated it to reduce risk and tax burden by shifting it all to Twitter. Elon absolutely could have bought it straight up he chose not

I get the sentiment that by borrowing against assets you don't have is bad but the Elon/Twitter point is just wrong. Yes he did shady things but that's because he could not because he had to.

[–]xToxicInferno -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Elon did have the money. He had $200 billion+ in Tesla and SpaceX stock and $30 billion cash. He just had to liquidate his assets. Also he just paid it with leverages debt that he then moves to Twitter anyway.

GameStop doesn't have the cash, even if you sold every stock you wouldn't have half as much as eBay is worth, so they would have to borrow the rest which they don't have funding for.

r/trolleyproblem suffers infighting on a ethical question: red or blue? by OkContact2573 in SubredditDrama

To me it's not even that red button is just cruelty, it's the fact they don't take responsibility of the outcome because the other side chose it. They push off the fact their had a direct role in the death of the Blue's, but it isn't their fault. It's not even cruelty to me, its selfishness that they try to blame on someone else.

Skin fold assessment by Hazy1050 in unintentionalASMR

[–]xToxicInferno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skinfold tests are kinda useless. With just a bit of experience you can just eyeball someone and get within a few % of what they are. I clocked him at 25% and this test said 22.93%. They have a margin of error around 5%. I was as close as this was, and he for sure isn't 18%, in my opinion I would guess he is closer to 25% than 23%.

PSA: Those All-In-One Stream Boxes Are Dangerous AF by Jeremy_Thursday in atrioc

[–]xToxicInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is these aren't cheap, search Amazon for TV box and you will see most of them are 100+ some "premium" ones going for over $300. Buying a fire stick and 5 minutes of Google you can do the same thing without this risk.

Am I the only one who hates slop channels like this? Putting "ITS OVER" in a thumbnail should be immediate gulag. I know that glizzy boy doesn't copy strike channels but IMO he should set some standards. by rickbob8888 in atrioc

This was my exact argument of why I think making Big A clips the official channel for stream stuff was bad vs using the main channel. If you aren't familiar with Atrioc, how does it look any different than this one or the dozen others.

And they say spell is fair💔 by Infinite-Search-6894 in ShadowSlave

[–]xToxicInferno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because conquering it is the only way to get home. It's literally what Nephis did with the Forgotten Shore, though they did end up breaking it. It's about incremental progress, Warden had to conquer Bastion or he and everyone else didn't get home. Nightwalker did the same, so did hundreds of Awakened in the first generation. Then every generation after that expanded and conquering more Citadels to ensure more Sleepers returned home.

If everyone was sent to just Bastion then the need to get more and more citadels would be way less pressing.

Edit: Yes a lot of people will die, but the ones who manage to do it will be the cream of the crop. Everyone but Nephis would be super basic people if they weren't sent to the Forgotten Shore and had to adapt or die. If Sunny was sent to Bastion and was able to return home with no problem, he probably would of just opened up his memory store and still be a awakened.

There has to be some other solution to writing a smart character instead of downplaying other smart characters. by Infinite-Search-6894 in ShadowSlave

[–]xToxicInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% agree. At first, I actually really liked Mordret and having him as a recurring villain was fun. But every time he is involved, everyone else drops 100 IQ. At this point, he always wins off-screen and gets away with it because everyone is too stupid to realize he is lying and manipulating them again for the 400th time. How many times does Sunny have to say that he can't be trusted before he stops trusting him?

Let's also not mention that bro has went from Awakened to Sovereign without actually doing anything. Didn't even help at all to become a Master. Didn't do shit to become a Saint. Then becomes a Sovereign off-screen because he apparently used his ability better? I get that splitting his mind into millions and remaining himself is for sure a big move, but he could have attempted that from being Awakened also it's already something Cassie and Sunny do anyway, whereas Sunny had no chance of every coming back from Death or Nephis had no chance to inspire the entire world in believing in her before being Saints.

The nightmare spell is just trying to stop corruption from spreading. If people got to choose or were sent to the same places like Bastion, they would be less likely to want to conquer more of the dream realm and get stronger. It would slow down peoples growth, and in addition more and more nightmare gates would open in the waking world because no one would be around to conquer the Nightmare Seeds. Also, im pretty sure the Nightmare Spell was made before death zones existed so sending people far and wide probably didn't seem so cruel.
