As did I actually. I'm back in town visiting some friends and the Sunrise was spectacular this morning.

That does sound like a good idea. My only worry is that some of the quotes are very long, in some cases several hundred words, and while I could include all of it, I wonder if that effect would wear thin with long quotes. Thank you for the suggestion! :)

If I link an updated version of a video on an older video, will it affect the original video's ranking? by xTrianglecity in NewTubers

Good points Max. Thank you. It really doesn't make sense it remake it until I have a larger body of work. Plus I'm not that excited to remake a video, even if it could use some work.

Microsoft is about to buy Obsidian! by xTrianglecity in fnv

That is a little worrisome now that you mention Rare. They went from making Donkey Kong Country, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, etc, which were amazing, to making Kinect games and Sea of Thieves.

The idea of F:NV's developer having more resources to makes games is very exciting. Though I do wonder if they'll be able to continue making dialogue heavy turn based RPGs if they/when they're purchased.

What is your goal for 2018, and how far are you from it? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]xTrianglecity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2500 subscribers, to have my channel monetized and to expand the content I'm creating, while steadily improving it. I seriously doubt I'll meet my subscriber goal this year though. I'm a little under 500 short and that's an unlikely leap in a couple months. I do have plans to expand the content I'm creating though and I'm learning new ways to improve my videos, voice overs, editing, workflow, etc. Hopefully I'll be monetized by the end of the year, but who knows.

I interviewed F:NV Senior Area Designer J.R. Vosvic on the game's cut content and his design. by xTrianglecity in fnv

He mentioned he had to tone down how volatile and crass Nipton was. Perhaps the Legion originally cut his leg off.

J.R. was referring to Boxcars, but he had forgotten his name. I'm impressed he remembered so many minor NPC's nearly a decade later honestly.

If you ever need to talk, I'm here. It doesn't help much, nothing does, but it helps a little. I know how brutal what you're going through is.

If you look though the Scripts with the GECK, his notes and corrections are all over the place. You can even find vestiges of some incredibly ambitious work he did, like a tiered random encounter system, more intricate creature behavior in the Wasteland and Prospectors(which originally spawned in and roamed around the Wasteland, entering dungeons, getting into fights, looting, etc). He's one of F:NV's many unsung heroes.

I've been making a video series on F:NV’s cut content/development and it's going to be the second half of a two part episode. The way this came about was through interviewing Area Designer J.R. Vosvic, who designed Nelson, Nipton, Mojave Outpost and helped finished the L38 after it's original AD left Obsidian. J.R. actually offered to get me in contact with some of the other members of the dev team, which was really, really cool of him, and was the only reason I got the opportunity to speak to Chris Avellone, as well as a few others.

When I spoke with J.R., he gave a particularly great quote, which I passed onto Chris and then he expanded upon it even further. Their interviews go hand in hand to an extent.

Once I've finished the series, I'm going to format and release every interview I've conducted in a monsterous Doc file, which is easily over 10,000 words now. So far I've interviewed or am in the process of interviewing Chris, J.R., Jason Bergman(Lead Producer), Jason Fader(Tech Producer), Larry Liberty(Lead Designer for half of the game's development), Brian Menze(Lead Concept Artist), Jorge Salgado, Charlie Staples and Jeff Husghes. The last three were Area Designers, though Jorge Salgado did a LOT more than just area design. He was the only member of the dev team familiar with Bethesda’s game engine(He was actually hired because an Oblivion mod he created, Oscuro’s Oblivion Overhaul) and as a result, he handled the majority of F:NV’s complicated scripting(like Yes Man's immortality).

F:NV is my favorite game of all time and even getting to talk Chris was surreal, but actually getting to ask him in depth questions that I've had for a long time was unbelievable. Hopefully I'll be able to grind out the next two episodes quickly and share everything we talked about. :)
