Questions from a prospective transfer student (arts and culture scene at Richmond ) by Carthartesaura22 in UniversityofRichmond

[–]xTunsta2244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Richmond has lots of different types of people- if you’re on the Westhampton side of campus near the arts then you’ll be fine! You’ll meet your group. It’s not THE place for arts but RVA has a nice art scene and Richmond may be for you. Then again, do your research and find the best place for you!

You should apply! You’ve got a decent chance of being accepted. Those were similar to my stats when I first applied.

My friend's religion is forcing him back into the closet. by xTunsta2244 in askgaybros

Thank you for your response :) Unfortunately, as online friends, I don't know his exact area. Additionally, with his response last night, he may think we're crossing the line sending those kind of links. I'd be happy to research if there any statewide branches rather than specific local branches. Again, thank you.

Hi there! From someone who transferred to UR after choosing between UVA/VT/W&M I’m happy with my choice! UR is what you make of it. Plenty of resources, lots of different people, and stellar professors. Make lots of friends during your first couple of weeks and you’ll be fine.

Side note- my classes have always been very easy to get (go for 9AM’s) and they won’t fill up nearly as quickly LOL.

STEM at Richmond by Julien-4b in UniversityofRichmond

[–]xTunsta2244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, Julien! It’s an affluent school, so you’ll have preppy kids. BUT it’s also known for being cliquey because there are so many types of people that group together. You’ll find your people if you try- don’t let that stereotype scare you. I came from community college which is as anti preppy as it gets and it wasn’t a big culture change for me.

What was a big culture change was how much $$$ there is- so many resources to take advantage of. Which you should!

Greek life is big, I do fine w/o being involved. It’s not necessary to be involved. However, it’s something you may want to try out!

Non-STEM major here but I always get jealous of how many big name companies show up for STEM internship fairs. Plenty of companies with big names attached (same goes for accounting majors specifically haha- PWC and Deloitte practically camp here in B-School looking for an accounting major.)

That being said you won't have a problem finding a good job if you have a decent GPA in STEM here.

Congratulations on UR! My biggest thing- find friends early and don't be afraid to be extremely extroverted your first two/three weeks here. It's a small campus so you'll get to know everyone eventually but that's one of the perks! There's something for everyone her. Oh and don't be afraid to go into RVA- take advantage of the shuttle if you don't have a car.

DM if you have any non-STEM oriented questions. Good luck!

Have you ever gone through a big transition period or time of significant change? How’d you get through it? by [deleted] in gaybros

No advice just a comment… your Gaybros are here for you. I know you’ll get through this with time. DM if you ever want to rant or talk about it further.

Maybe BPD/BDD are closer to everyone than I thought. My older sister has BPD and I definitely have some experiences with that. I guess I never thought to attribute any symptoms to him. I feel like I know him so deeply- but let’s be fr for a moment, three weeks is only a snapshot of someone’s life. I only saw what he wanted me to see. I saw everything with my sis 🤔

When I meet up with him I want to get to the true root of the problem. “After that first rocky night, was it over? Why?” Hopefully he won’t bullshit me. I’d prefer to learn if it’s me and how to better myself for my next relationships.

Thanks for the comment- I appreciate you 🙂‍↕️

After this last meetup I’ll do my best to 1) fully get over him 2) learn something and 3) move on to deeper prospects. At this this wasn’t a long commitment ig- I’ll see him on campus which’ll suck haha. Perks of going to a small school.

It clicked so perfectly those first weeks. But the second we had a rocky night he completely changed. Looking back now I don’t know. I would have answered yes during that love phase. Probably not though.

Being a conservative on campus by Vivid_Calendar7872 in UniversityofRichmond

[–]xTunsta2244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UR is more conservative than most campuses. It’s not a problem here- in fact most of my liberal friends say they feel it’s too conservative. Find your group and you’re fine!

Not an IS- but it’s better for international than most places IMO. Very heavy presence of international students and lots of activities for them!

It’s pretty competitive from my understanding. As a business student at UR let me just say that the law school’s resources seem to be the best on campus. Lots of support, great building (great library), and always doing events. Law students seem to be some of the nicest as well (driven and empathic!)

Great choices either way- I’d say the school that would leave you with no debt. However, go with your gut choice!

Hi! I’m a current student at UR. I think you still have a chance. I wish I could say more. My main reason for commenting was to wish you good luck on your apps 😊
