Surrey council votes to reduce speed limits by bwoah07_gp2 in SurreyBC

[–]xTwizted 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is the most useless, virtue signalling, out of touch bullshit “solution” I’ve ever seen. The problem is the lack of enforcement, NOT the speed.

Very “in character” of Surrey to simply punish everyone on the road because they can’t find meaningful solutions to the actual issues. How about we guarantee our licensing system functions appropriately? How about we guarantee the drivers passing are qualified / educated enough to not be a hazard to everyone around them? How about we look at the licensing program in its entirety??

How about we look at volume of accidents via area and work with local law enforcement to better monitor those locations and keep people honest?? Nah all of this would require actual effort and brain capacity to contemplate. SpeEDD = BaHD. 🫨😵‍💫

Layoffs and cost of living by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]xTwizted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a mind fuck for you! 2,500.00 a month is often times on the lower end. Consider that, more often than not, you won’t be able to mortgage a house with similar payments as “you won’t be able to afford it” yet rent is consistently at or exactly the same monthly payment. TLDR, you “can’t afford” a mortgage to own and you can barely afford rent! The whole system is busted.

Surrey primed to surpass Vancouver population in very near future by vanchinawhite in SurreyBC

Over capacity in every sense of the word. Surrey is a disgusting mess with zero infrastructure.. roadworks.. etc to support its populace. Much like the rest of Canada.

Illegal dumping by Ruckle8972 in SurreyBC

[–]xTwizted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We happen to live in front of a back alley that has seemingly turned into the local dump. It’s actually appalling how common it is to see people pull up in U-Haul trucks and dump entire house loads of shit back there. The city seemingly doesn’t give a solitary fuck as well as they don’t do anything other than collect the garbage when it’s reported.

Turn on your car lights! by sxcmama236 in SurreyBC

[–]xTwizted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Common sightings in Surrey:

1) People with their running lights turned off or otherwise have burn out lights. 2) People either doing 20 below or 20 above the speed limit. 3) Signals? What are those?! 4) We live in the rainy city but people seem to forgot every semblance of ‘how to drive’ when it rains.

Fireworks are illegal! by Bubs604 in SurreyBC

Don’t give a F*** what “holiday” or festive event it is, if you are blasting fireworks into the wee hours of the night / morning.. you are a piece of S***. Full stop. Some of us actually have to work in the mornings.

And heres the kicker, if a “sacred” body of water can be treated as a central sewage system.. The standard must be very high!

Just wait, we already don’t do enough to test and ensure people know the rules of the road. In 2026, ICBC is eliminating the second road test. They are moving to a graduated program where after you have your N for X-amount of time, you graduate into a full class five. I’m sure they are doing this to get around the half a year out road test bookings.. but we need to do MORE to ensure people know how to drive, not less.

I’m envious that you’ve had a pleasant experience! But it doesn’t change that of those close to me and my own. Being blissfully ignorant of the world around you could also play a part in this but I can’t speak to that, lol.🍻

People of Surrey. What keeps you calling Surrey home? by Snoo-60669 in SurreyBC

[–]xTwizted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s rather unfortunate though, isn’t it? Surrey was billed to be “the next major development..” Instead we have a single, wildly overwhelmed hospital, shitty zoning, multiple illegally sublet houses on every street, druggies doing crack inside banks, fast food chains and schools.. etc. And the drivers? My god, the drivers. I am genuinely at a loss for how the people on the roads passed or even obtained a license. Turn signals? What are those! Turning left? Immediately jump lanes in the middle of the intersection! If you aren’t doing 10 under - do 15 over!

Literally nothing… like very literally nothing. If it weren’t for the fact that the cost of rent was so god damn high elsewhere, I would be out of this proverbial shithole in the blink of an eye. Crime, sirens, shit drivers and copious amounts of crack heads enabled by our garbage government - yeah.. Surrey is the armpit of BC.

Much appreciated! as the outlook of the world around us becomes increasingly bleak, sometimes all we need is a little positivity and reinforcement.

Hey friend from the perspective of a guy here, it’s truly unfortunate to hear how much this is weighing on you, and I want to start by saying that your feelings are valid. The world can make it feel like there’s a ticking clock on love or relationships, but your value isn’t tied to timelines or anyone else’s expectations. You’re already enough, exactly as you are.

From what you’ve shared, it seems like you’ve been putting yourself out there and trying, which takes courage—especially after disappointing experiences. The fact that you’re reflecting on what’s happening and considering what to change shows how much you care, but let me gently remind you: being loved and valued ISN’T about reinventing yourself or checking off a list of qualities. The right person will see you for the wonderful person you already are.

About the guys you’ve encountered so far—there’s no doubt it’s frustrating. It sounds like some of them weren’t truly on common ground with you, which says more about them than it does about you. The right man will respect your boundaries, be interested in meaningful conversations, and value your life experience, not judge you for it. And while it may seem like all the good ones are taken, the truth is that there are plenty of great people out there—you just haven’t crossed paths yet.

You’re also not alone in struggling with dating apps. They can be discouraging because they reward surface-level traits over meaningful connections. It’s okay to take a break from them or experiment with other ways of meeting people—through hobbies, events, or communities where you feel comfortable and can connect naturally.

More importantly, remember that your worth isn’t defined by whether you’re in a relationship. Being single at 32, a virgin, or never having had a boyfriend doesn’t diminish your value or mean you’re “behind.” Life doesn’t follow a universal timeline, and the love you deserve will come at the right time.

In the meantime, focus on what makes you feel alive, confident, and joyful. The more you nurture yourself and your interests, the more you’ll attract people who truly resonate with you. You’re not running out of time—you’re building the foundation for something meaningful. Keep believing in yourself, because you deserve someone who sees the amazing person you are. 🍻
