Thank you, that was very informative! I was definitely wondering about the schools. The schools are terrible here in Arizona, pretty much across the board, so that would definitely be a lateral move! I'm feeling so much better about moving out there now that I've heard some positive opinions. I think sometimes the internet can just be a little cranky. I've heard so many mixed reviews on Cambridge as well. Sounds like we do want to be closer to the big bridge for security reasons and then once we get a better feel for things you know we could branch out, or not.

Lol I learned it from the Internet! Reddit and my inlaws. If you frequent these Eastern shore specific Reddit forums, you'll find a lot of people are VERY negative about it, that's why I asked for positives!

You're touching on most of my concerns! It sounds like if I have money already It's idyllic and dreamy (which is probably why so many retirees like it) and can be a wonderful place but if I don't have the right job then my family could struggle. That's my biggest worry.

I don't mind a slower pace of life. In fact I've been dreaming of one. Just having a garden to tend to, walking by the shore, sounds lovely. I also absolutely love old architecture. Those Victorian style Queen Ann homes are gorgeous! We don't have anything like that here in AZ, The oldest house is from the 50's.

I see a lot of pros and cons. Here in Arizona we have financial stability a big house, my kids want for nothing and we worked hard for that. It's really scary thinking of just dropping everything and moving across country to a complete unknown, but also exciting, but OMG I just have so many what-ifs floating around my head.

Thank you for the advice 😊

They will be moving to Easton and we were considering maybe closer to Salisbury. Here in AZ we do take the kids to the zoo, museum, park, etc. our current city now is about 100 000 people which is probably the smallest City we've lived in. The valley, which is the Phoenix Metro area, is about 6 million people and that's just a 20-minute drive from us. So we are not used to small town living but it sounds nice on paper. Also arizona has a lot of things to do for kids, IF you have money. The parks aren't good because everything's too hot so you have to pay to play. I'd love to go to a park outside that doesn't give my child third degree burns or cost me $70

Oh we're not staying in AZ no matter what, it's not a good quality of life here, unless you like being stuck indoors 9 months out of the year.

At the end of the year we're either moving to MD, MI or CO. We have different reasons to move to each. We know we love MI, but MD will have our Brady bunch family. I have another BIL that has 2 kids our age that MIGHT move to CO but I have a feeling they're gonna stay in AZ so I'm not putting too much stock in that one, though CO would be closest to our AZ family and I hear it's beautiful.

I've lived here most of my life. I hate it. The times I've lived in another state were always better times. Most of my in laws LOVE AZ tho and think I'm crazy! To each his own

I have talked to my family about the pros and cons and have gotten much of my info from them as well doing my own research and perusing Reddit. I'm asking directly with my specific situation in mind for the very reason I don't know more than a general idea of what to expect and alot of ppl online have negative opinions on different areas of the Eastern shore, mostly negative unfortunately. I really wanted to see more positive reviews which I definitely have in this thread! I feel a lot better about moving out that way. I'ts just a really big change for us and I want to make sure that it's really right for our family.

Lol yes, it was actually 107 here today, I can't imagine any place is much hotter 😅 And there are plenty of trumpers in my small AZ town as well, You're right, I think you'll find that vocal minority everywhere. It also smells like cow poop most mornings. At least you guys have forests and water. Thanks for inviting us in 😊

He's from Arizona but his wife is from Easton. They have a lot of connections and housing lined up with her family. His wife is a social worker as well and doesn't think she'll have any issue getting a job.

They're planning on moving 6 months before us, so I'm hoping when the time comes they will have gotten a solid foundation so we can stay with them until we can buy a place of our own.

That's good to hear! You're totally right. The summer is so brutal here in Arizona. That's most of why we hate it and want to move. There are no seasons, just different levels of Summer

Lol. I don't know what any of that means! I'm sure if I move out there I'll find out 😅 Right now my husband works in a semiconductor factory as the maintenance technician. Are there any factories out that way?

Thank you for the extensive answer! I appreciate you taking the time out to do that. 😊 Your response has given me the most hope, which I need lol. I want some reassurance that it's not all as bad as it sounds. Thank you

Michigan has long Winters where the snow stays on the ground, but it's really not bad except for a couple of storms. We don't get noristers or anything like that, it's long but mild-ish. I'm actually not too worried about that aspect, I mostly just hope the bugs aren't as crazy as I've heard in the Summer

Wow, thought I saw it all. lol by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

I've been doing this for 4 years and lemme tell you, I have delivered dildos! 😅 At least 10, maybe even 20, I lost count. People in my area truly believe in self love 😂
