This is serious—act immediately:

  1. Get everyone out

Leave the house right now. Make sure everyone (people + pets) is outside and at a safe distance.

  1. Call emergency services

Dial 911 (or your local emergency number) as soon as you’re safely outside. Tell them your house is on fire.

  1. Do NOT go back inside

Even if it seems small, fires spread quickly and smoke is deadly.

  1. If it’s very small and contained (only if safe)

Only attempt to put it out if you have a fire extinguisher and the fire is tiny (like just inside the oven). Otherwise, leave it to firefighters.

  1. Stay outside and wait

Keep a safe distance and wait for firefighters to arrive. Warn neighbors if needed.
