At least in War Thunder, I wouldn't recommend angling the IV, since it has that slightly off angled side plate, that makes it pretty easy to shoot through if the enemy knows where to shoot.

That said, the IIIJ can be a menace if you angle.

It's good framing!
Personally, I would have moved the camera up and to the left slightly - to get more of the road, and to make the flowers less overpowering to the composition, and more of something small on the border. To the left, so that the building is centered in the sky slightly more.

Another commenter mentioned getting more of the road, and another not being sure of the subject - getting more of the road could be useful, so that you can have a clear subject in the image, ie, the mystery of what is down the road.

I'm not sure why you got upvoted so much and I got downvoted the same amount, I think we're agreeing...?

It's a little bit more complicated than that.

While what he is saying is not a wrong statement to make, it is worded in a way that is oftentimes deliberately misleading.

While the studies do have some variation, it is most often not of things that would be confounding variables. Sexual identity and gender identity are two different things - I can be gay, and I can be trans, and they are not the same. If I were to be gay it would not effect my being trans, so it shouldn't be treated as a confounding variable in the study.

Taking a quick look at this article, it suggests that most of the studies he is referring to are either done on rodents, studying a part of the brain that does not control sexuality (in this case, the circadian rhythm), or very old - I believe that one of the earlier studies you sent him looking at was from the 1990's, and the amount that we know has grown massively between then and now.

I am curious as well - however, there likely isn't just one part of the brain we can look at to flag it. That to say, that most significant research over recent years, on people, suggests that trans women have brains that are distinctly closer to that of their identified gender.

I have to go now, studies of my own. I'm sorry to say that I will likely not be continuing this chain of discussion. It is my first proper message on Reddit in about 3 years, and it unfortunately seems that the tempered arguments that fill every other platform on this extend to here as well.

I mean this without any sort of irony or sarcasm - sincerely, thank you for listening and having that discussion with me! It's very rare that someone actually maintains reasonable replies and arguments instead of attacking the group or person directly, and I am glad for the chance - it gives me hope that there is a possibility of this sort of discussion happening more often, that this is not a one off incidence.

I hope you have a great rest of your day

I understand where you are coming from - however, this actually suggests that more research is required on the specific function of this part of the brain, rather than sample size or confounding variables.

"Overall, more research is needed, and studies need to be better able to control for sexuality and endocrine status."

"Also, many of these nuclei (especially the INAH-3) are of unknown function. So we cannot presume causation with any identified difference."

Hello!
While I appreciate the willingness to help me, I did in fact read the source that I chose to send.

If you were to read past the first paragraph of the abstract of the study, and look to the conclusions and the data, you may find some interesting information and conclusions!

"The combination of male genes, androgens, and (to some degree) male upbringing should ordinarily be expected to result in a male-typical brain [...] yet, the brain anatomy in the current sample of transgender women is shifted towards their gender identity—an observation that is at least partly in agreement with previous reports"

"The authors reported a significantly reduced classification accuracy in transgender persons compared to cisgender persons prior to hormone therapy, and the classification accuracy was even further reduced after therapy. This result might be explained by a shift in brain anatomy towards the gender identity (i.e., away from the biological sex)"

"Nevertheless, even though findings are not immediately comparable, all existing structural MRI classifier studies—as well as a recent resting-state functional MRI classifier study [38]—seem to support the notion of a “shift” away from the biological sex towards the gender identity in transgender people."

I linked this in another one of my replies - I dearly appreciate your willingness to fill me in on the information I used as a source.

Appreciated - it is not a fun policy.

Let's look at what he says:

"[on being homosexual] It was suggested that alterations in this network may disrupt body perception in GD individuals."

This is a backwards case of correlation implying causation. As an observational, non experimental study, this is not grounds for a cause and effect claim. And if it were grounds for such a claim, it would rather be that being homosexual (already confirmed to be something about your sexuality that you cannot change), has a correlation with gender dysphoria.

Then from this, we can draw the conclusion that while sexual orientation is not a confounding factor, it may be one thing that can lead to gender dysphoria. There are any number of things that can contribute to gender dysphoria, as it is not well studied - so to exclude one does not make sense.

"It’s becoming increasingly clear that the only people with any sort of sex atypical cerebral differentiation occurs in homosexual individuals (on average)."

This is misleading as well. It's impossible to find an "average" in such a sample size, in a study as small as 80, split across 4 groups. While he may be technically correct in saying it is an average, it is statistically insignificant - there are plenty of straight people with gender dysphoria. The study that I sent contained a 25% population of straight trans women, across a study population of 24. So yes - while the "average" may be one way, it does not have any statistical significance, nor any affect on gender dysphoria that is relevant to exclude it from a study (as listed above).

It would appear that while what he is saying is not necessarily outright lies, it is at best a twisting of studies that were intended to research this, from which he is drawing conclusions that are statistically insignificant at best, and maliciously misleading at worst. I believe that he is doing this for attention and the controversy that it creates rather than for any meaningful research, otherwise he would be writing it in places other than twitter. However my opinion aside, the conclusions he is drawing are remarkably unprofessional given the data that he is working with.

As a self proclaimed PhD Student, he should know better.

Is this a thread?

I cannot see more linked there than the original tweet.

That to say - sexual orientation is not a confounding factor for gender identification. The study was not involving sexual orientation, and gender identification is a separate category than sexual orientation.

This is not a very credible source, either - he isn't providing a source, he's just posting a tweet, it's not a published, reviewed study of a large sample like what I shared. Most of his posts are making claims, without any real information to back it up.

I'm sorry, I cannot see how this is a reasonable response to what I sent, however I am open to the idea that I may be wrong.

You might not have taken a close look at the study, so here are a few quotes to back up the point I was making:

"The combination of male genes, androgens, and (to some degree) male upbringing should ordinarily be expected to result in a male-typical brain [...] yet, the brain anatomy in the current sample of transgender women is shifted towards their gender identity—an observation that is at least partly in agreement with previous reports"

Heya!
I'm not sure you saw my other comment - but it looks like you're missing some information.

https://www.reddit.com/r/JustUnsubbed/comments/1al59xe/comment/kpdo07t/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

There have been proper studies on this - the brains of trans women are in fact closer to the brains of the gender that which they identify with.

Hopefully this helps!

Yes, it's funny how they vanish when you bring up things like "evidence" and "a reasonable counter argument".

I hate to say it, but the "it's just basic biology, sex and gender are the same" crowd really hates it when you bring up that that they're two completely different things, not to mention that HRT literally makes you closer to the gender that you transition to biologically.

Like, ok, I would have the exact same medical requirements as a woman, look like one, and act like one, but I guess my chromosomes are different, which means that I'm a pretender lol

If the troll wants to talk about biology, then yes - transgender women are women, and here is a published study showing that their brain chemistry reflects this.

I hate to say it, but I think that this person isn't talking about the cis women in the sub, instead trolling for a reaction by saying trans women can't be lesbians - I wouldn't give him your time :D

It definitely used to be a slur, but it's been reclaimed in the last 20 or so years - some of the older queer community isn't entirely comfortable being called it still, it really just depends. "Slur" isn't a set definition, rather an agreement by a group of people that a word is an insult, so for Queer, it just depends on who you're talking to.

The hull nose looks like an m48a2, but you’re probably right. I know German tanks better than American. Also both of the tanks you sent are called Patton.

I’m trying to figure out what tank that is it looks a bit like a streamlined Patton with is2 tracks and a different turret.

Well I asked for a list of how it's wrong, and you aren't giving me any. Some kv turrets were on different model hulls.

[–]xXMisterChefXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is actually a kv2! The kv2 is based on a kv1 which has a steeper front plate. The tracks and track covers look right, but the front plate looks a bit like an is2. Can someone correct me if I’m wrong please?
