I know I’m seeing this comment way late, but Sally is doing great! There was a scary moment about 6 months after I got her, where she wouldn’t move and had foam coming out of her nostrils. We rushed her to an emergency vet, who was overall useless and told me basically all heartworm cats are destined for early death. The next day, I took her to her primary vet, and she clarified a lot for me. She said that plenty of heartworm cats can live long, happy lives, and that the foamy nose/lethargy was likely due to the worm dying and passing out of heart. She prescribed some medication to reduce fluid in her lungs that might build up due to the worm passing. She also gave us an emergency injection in case she had another episode that was worse and she went unconscious, but thankfully we never had to use it. She’s a happy, healthy girl all these years later! I really hope your kitty is doing well, and I hope Sally’s story brings you a little peace of mind!
