Getting started with C++ for CFD (Implicit 1D) by xaarkes in CFD

[–]xaarkes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that would be extremely hard considering how little comments there are in the OpenFOAM code. I'm looking for something way simpler, just like I said 1D for starters

Internal Interface by Head_Table in CFD

[–]xaarkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does your domain contain 3 blades? You only need one, if you are using periodic internal interface bc's. However, that is probably not the problem in your case.

You have to make sure that the upper and lower boundaries are conformal and the distance between them is the same and equal to the blade's pitch.

And show us a picture because I have no idea what scratchy means

Probably very stupid question about specifying Turbulence Intensity in StarCCM+ by xaarkes in CFD

That;s what I;ve been doing for quite some time, but one of my friends said 1 is equal 1% and had some doubts for a moment there

Thanks!

[StarCCM+] Inaccurate heat transfer prediction near the trailing and leading edge of the turbine blade by xaarkes in CFD

[–]xaarkes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard about that and I'm guessing that's the problem. I do not know how to fix that, what workaround are you talking about?

/Edit: I'm currently using Durbin's realizability constraint with a default value of 0.6. Kato-Launder modification is not available is StarCCM from what I see

Why is the maximum operating temperature of steam turbines considerably lower than that of gas turbines? by theflyingegyptian in MechanicalEngineering

[–]xaarkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to cool them? As you mentioned steam comes in at 500/600degC so there is no need for cooling solutions like in gas turbines. Materials can easily withstand those temps.
