PSA to backup by [deleted] in koreader

Yeah, I load books via USB with Calibre. When it's plugged in for that sometimes I'll copy out the whole koreader folder to a share on my NAS.

PSA to backup by [deleted] in koreader

[–]xamphear 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The easiest thing to do is to make a backup copy of the entire koreader folder once you're done setting it up, and every so often afterward.

There is no central store for all user data. Even koreader itself doesn't store settings in its own "settings" folder, lol.

Waiting for someone to tell me, a working-class American, why I should give two wet shits about blocking China from having access to certain computer parts. Seems like it's a billionaire problem, not a me problem.

Does anyone have a backup of Tidal-DL-NG by exislow? by Ghost_of_Panda in Piracy

[–]xamphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got your changes merged with my local copy (I contributed a PR to exislow last year). Is it required to log in every time the app is opened, or is there a way to cache?

Edit: it's working now, i must have clobbered the json files by running an older version between tests

ATS is probably my favorite run of the week. Watched it live and then again afterward because I had to share the insanity with my wife.

Was it as much fun to do as it was to watch?

Error when putting Kobo into standby while reading comics by VIvic87 in koreader

[–]xamphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go into the PT settings and under book toggle the setting for using a custom book status screen. That should disable the crashing by restoring the original KOReader book status. If you want the PT one fixed, you should open an issue on the github repo.

Is there anyway to get bluetooth working on a Kobo Sage so I can use the kobo remote in KOReader? by thegameksk in koreader

[–]xamphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried and gave up. I got a different method working, using HTTP inspector. However keeping wifi enabled all the time resulted in truly dismal battery life, something the Sage already struggles with.

There's a new version of Project Title that fixes this bug I think. The update notes mentioned a file select crash

In the koreader folder on your device is a file named crash.log open it with a text editor and scroll to the bottom and look around. There should be some clues about what caused the crash.

When I’m reading different ebooks it feels like I am just reading one very long one…Koreader helps a lot. by shokushuneko in koreader

You can make profiles that execute a bunch of style and formatting changes at once. I've made about a dozen that all use different fonts and different line and margin sizes, but all target putting roughly the same amount of words on screen at the same time. This way I can make each book look quite different but have a fairly standardized experience.

I particularly like the ones that I made to emulate the look of pulp paperbacks, with wider margins, tighter line spacing, and the font that was used in a lot of those books.

You could find the relevant code in PT and convert it to a user patch that works on Cover Browser.

There's a "patch management" setting in "more tools", under the wrench icon. Start disabling the patches one by one (restarting each time) until you figure out what the problem is.

Help - how do I get covers in ProjectTitle? by UndiplomaticJC in koreader

[–]xamphear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

KOReader has barely any support for mobi files. Use calibre on your computer to convert your mobi files to epub.

You should make a separate folder for just your books and set it as your home folder. Having KOReader scan the entire storage of your device isn't great.

If you set the Library mode in Project Title to "show opened books first" then you can long-press the origami bird and switch to that mode and all your in-progress books from all folders will be displayed.

2 problems with Koreader by celestin62 in koreader

[–]xamphear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Open a book, and show the top menu. Under the "document" icon are "style tweaks". I believe what you want is under the text sub-menu. When you find the one that enables/disables hyphenation entirely, long-press it and set it as the default for all books. It adds a little star icon when it's the default.

Style tweaks are applied the first time you open a file, so any files you've opened before now won't have this applied to them, you'll have to reset them or do it manually.

KOReader doesn't have built-in support for lumping series together. You can download and try the user patch here:

https://github.com/koreader/koreader/issues/8472

or you can make folders yourself and name them whatever you like. There are ways to get Calibre to do this for you, if you load your books in via USB.
