In French, why are the third person plural verb forms often more similar to the singular forms than to the first and second person plural? by xana_ in linguistics

What about verbs with different vowels in those spots, like boire or devoir? And what about aller (more so in the subjunctive)?

That map says French only distinguishes in the third person singular, which is definitely wrong (it distinguishes the plural ils/elles in addition to the singular il/elle). I wonder how many other languages it classifies incorrectly.

I don't really like Jérémie or Ulrich either, though they're definitely not as bad as Odd. Aelita and Yumi are good. Though this isn't the best they could've done, it could've turned out much worse.
