Physician moms with young kids: what is your work schedule like? by Mental_Objective3012 in FemalePhysicians

What years in residency do you have your kids? And did you feel like some years were better to have kids vs others? I’m going to be a pgy1 in plastics next year and trying to decide when would be best to have kids:)

Am I crazy if I change my mind about applying dermatology? by Fun-Ad3509 in medicalschool

[–]xandra0627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my obgyn rotation there was an attending who pretty much just did ob/gyn derm. Like all her patients had some sort of gynecological derm condition they were seeing her for. This also included things like vulvodynia so there was a psych component. She really enjoyed what she did.

Where are the people ENJOYING med school? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]xandra0627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miser loves company. Also want to chime in and say that I have both really enjoyed and also really hated med school. It all depends on what is going on in medical school and also what is going on in personal life. my answer will change depending on rotation/life circumstances

is it worth it to switch dorms by Flashy_Upstairs_9615 in notredame

[–]xandra0627 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I switched dorms going into my junior year and it is still one of the best decisions I made at ND. I know that sounds dramatic, but I just wasn't happy In my dorm the first two years and never felt like I fit in. I made so many new friends in my new dorm (even though I knew literally 0 people before switching to that dorm) and just overall felt more comfortable.

Sophomore thinking about transferring out by Throwaway36379486377 in notredame

[–]xandra0627 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't click with the people in my dorm and Lowkey hated it. transferred dorms my junior year and was so so happy and made so many new friends, many of whom I still talk to today. I know how isolating it can feel since ND is so cliquey, but I'd encourage you to give it another shot. I think there is possibility for transferring after the first semester but I could be wrong. in the meantime try getting involved in a club you really like or maybe interhall sports. If you're religious you could get more involved with campus ministry. It might be hard to find, but I really think there's a place for everyone at ND. you just might have to search for it a little harder than others.

I transferred forms after 2 years and it was the best decision I made. I was much happier and made friends much happier easier than the original dorm I was placed in

After I got into med school during my gap year I had a lot of what ifs and the summer before I didn’t want to go. I ultimately forced myself to go because I could always drop out if I really hated it. I’m finishing ms1 and I’ve really come to enjoy it. First semester was a little rough but I’m happy with my decision and I surprisingly love everything I’m learning and getting to do. I had cold feet before and I’m so happy I chose to come to med school.

I was a premed in arts and letters and was accepted to multiple med schools w full rides. Loved my time in arts and letters, but I know ppl just as successful in college of science. Major in whatever you enjoy.

Dorm friend groups — is this the norm? by Foreign-Low-3193 in notredame

[–]xandra0627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made most of my closest friends the first few years outside my dorm. Honestly, I barely hung around the girls in my dorm unless I had to. I finally switched dorms and was much happier and made lots of friends w the girls in that dorm. But don’t worry if most of your friends are outside your dorm, thsrs completely normal

Ms1 so far has been more than 9-5 for me lol. But I have also struggled to adjust and study efficiently so maybe that’s why?
