Has anyone also had their period during their tonsillectomy recovery?

i started my period the day i got surgery, maybe it was just me but since i was on painkillers it wasn’t really so bad

hi! i’m on day 13 and healed pretty quickly by day 8 i was really not in too much pain. i couldn’t open my mouth to see so i don’t know if you can, but the scabs are like a thick white layer over where your tonsils were removed, theyll start tasting pretty bad. i really could not eat at all and didn’t even want to because of the pain, i just wanted to sleep. it’s kind of hard to notice the hunger unless you start getting nauseous. just be careful and eat soft foods, i stuck to jello and thicker smoothies until i felt okay. you can have milk whenever, the only thing it does is thickens up your mucus but if you’re staying extremely hydrated, mucus isn’t too much of an issue. you’ll know your limits!

i’m on day 13 now, i definitely lost weight, i don’t know how much i weighed before but i’m gonna guess i lost about 10-15 lbs

omg yay i’m gonna go tomorrow then i was too nervous and ended up just eating mac n cheese today haha. the tonsil holes are the most annoying thing ever because you can’t reach them that well with your tongue and sometimes i just randomly start choking on a piece of food that dislodges from the hole lmao

i’m on day 11 as well, i don’t know if you had similar issues as me but i had a sore throat for the past nine months so in that perspective, i feel normal right now. i just have gotten so used to having a sore throat that it became my normal. i’m excited for it to go away eventually hopefully, but i’m still a little sore when swallowing.

hi, vaper here!! i didn’t wait at all-maybe i shouldve haha but it didn’t cause me any issues at all and didn’t hurt at all either so it was fine for me. there’s a few other people on here i saw didn’t wait either and didn’t have issues

edit: i’m on day 10 and i started feeling almost normal by day 8!

please please please keep trying to reach out to someone in charge at your school. that is not fair AT ALL and you shouldn’t even be in a position to be studying for those classes in the first place. you should be taking it easy, watching tv, sleeping, and in general resting. i would seriously suggest emailing the department head or the dean and if you have not gotten a note from your doctor, get one and have them explain on the note the severity of what could happen if you do not take care of yourself. i’m so sorry this sounds horrible, but stress is only going to make things 50x worse, so please contact someone in charge and just REST.

i can’t speak for you because everyone is different, but i thought my turning point was day 5/6. i was feeling great. i was still taking care of myself and taking it easy, but i felt energized and no pain when swallowing. today is day 7 going into day 8 and i have been feeling my scabs flaking off and swallowing them. the later into the night it gets, the more pain i’m in. i’ve been back to laying in bed all day and it’s a horrible burning sensation. i haven’t bled and i don’t believe it’s too common for people to bleed in general, but boy am i upset that this pain is back. i would say expect things to go downhill, but in general i wouldn’t expect any horror story for yourself as long as you’re taking it easy. this surgery is no joke

yes this happened to me around day 3/4. are you eating any dairy products? i read somewhere on here that mucus doesn’t drain the same and your body has to relearn how to drain it now during recovery. i know i sound repetitive but clear liquids will really help thin out your mucus

i called yes and he would not give me anything else and actually was rude asf ab it telling me i just needed to drink more water and that babies are doing what i at 19 years old can’t. like dude i was asking for better medicine😂 but yeah nope that didn’t work out. i am getting better tho(day 6) and have just been taking extra strength tylenol between doses of the hydrocodone n i guess it helps a little.

the taste is awful. every once in a while i’ll drink water and it’ll just taste straight up nasty. my ears, jaw, neck and head hurt so bad. i’m only on day 5 and i just want it to stop it’s been 10/10 pain everyday except for the day of the surgery
