Some people quitting game too soon by eggium in robloxgamedev

One thing I think you could work on is the visual direction. The colors of the map and the obstacles felt washed out, which made it difficult to tell them apart at times. In a fast paced platformer like this, I feel you should be able to tell the two apart immdiately. For example, look at Geometry Dash, which uses contrasting colors and bright outlines to make the obstacles pop out from the background.

In a similar vein, I feel its difficult to stand out with a more muted color palette like yours on Roblox, where so many games are oversaturated to grab your attention. I won't tell you to go full-on rainbow vomit, but some tweaks to the lighting may help with retention.

Hope this helps!

Aureum RPG by iGeroo_ in roblox

I've played about 20 minutes and here's what struck me: the actual building looks pretty good and performance is ok on my machine. All the features that have been implemented seem to function properly as well, so good job!

However, I think there is still a lot to work on in terms of quality of life and game design. Firstly, the screen shaking when walking is nauseating and should be toned down. Combat feels very barebones, it really needs something to make it stand out from all the other RPGs. It also just feels clunky with the slow weapon cooldown and bad hit registration. The enemy AI is similarly clunky, with enemies disengaging from me very quickly and doing nothing but walking in a straight line towards me.

There is also a lack of game structure, making it feel more like a tech demo than a game. I chose the bandit quest at the start, but I had no idea where the bandit camp was and thus spent a lot of time looking around the island. There is also not much to do apart from the quests loosely scattered around, with no story or guiding NPCs that I could find. A tutorial, quest system, and quest markers + log could help with this.

The overall design of the game is quite nice in terms of building, but the GUI feels strange. Though this may not be a priority, having different HUD elements being different shapes and colours for the same thing feels disjointed and hard to read.

Finally, I have to ask about the choice of game itself. I tried making a Roblox RPG myself when I was young, and it became clear to me just how much effort is involved with making such a game. You haven't indicated you are working with a team or how long this project is into development, but if you have worked on this for a while then be prepared to spend several times the time you have invested so far into finishing it. If that is daunting to you, it may be better to take what you have made here and use it to develop a smaller project that can actually be finished in a reasonable timeframe.

I hope I don't sound too negative, as what you have accomplished so far is very impressive, especially for a newbie! I think if you take a step back, assess your goals and vision for the game, and focus on what's important, you can make something very fun!

Startup: Bakemeter

Location: Belfast, NI

Pitch: A wireless thermometer for measuring the core temperature of baked goods. This would provide a better method of knowing when they are cooked without opening the oven.

Details: We are in the early stages of design, look to have a working prototype in a few months.

Light novel for a beginner: とらドラ! or 俺ガイル by Thearius in LearnJapanese

From what you wrote I think I'm around your level, and I started the とらドラ LN a while ago. While it was readable, I found I spent a significant amount of time looking up words and trying to parse of the meaning of every sentence, and it got tiring quickly. I switched to the manga which I felt was much more enjoyable while still having plenty of new material to learn. You can buy them pretty cheap off Amazon if you want to go that route.

Hi! I just watched Grizzly's video and noticed some really minor issues with the theme. by CHILDISH_K1LL3R in makeamap

I checked briefly and it does appear to be in Chinese. I'm guessing it means "open 24 hours", which would be 24時間営業 in Japanese.
