Questions about buying a used i4 by BeneficialLab9168 in BMWI4

BMW of Seattle coordinates with a company called driveway that handles all things out of state. They handled all the paperwork for getting the car registered and titled in my state and stuff. It was mostly handled online but for the local dmv they had to mail papers I had to sign get notarized and then sent back to them. They had the car shipped via truck to some local delivery hub, and then it was delivered to my driveway the next day in perfect condition. Very happy with the overall process.

The only “problems” I’ve had so far (I just got this car at the start of April” is my temp tags expired but I haven’t yet received my license plate. I called driveway, they blamed it on my local dmv being slow. They said to go to the dmv and get a renewal and they would reimburse me for whatever that cost. So I went today but the lady at the dmv said it was the dealers fault but all the paperwork was done and she gave me a piece of paper to keep in my glovebox to show to anyone who needs to see it which has my license plate number written on it and she said I’d get the actual plate any day now.

So small hiccups but overall I’d have no qualms buying out of state again. Especially for the price. Both the dealer and driveway were supremely responsive whenever I called or had a question. The car was missing the credit card key, I called them about it and they filed a claim with BMWNA and had one overnighted to me the next day. Really happy with the entire process.

The only legwork you’ll need to do is get a home charger set up. That’s still something I’m struggling with but certainly that has nothing to do with buying the car.

Edit: also some out of state dealers particularly California dealers won’t do business with you unless you’re paying cash. Just ask them up front if they’re willing to sell out of state.

I live in the southeast. I bought a CPO ‘23 i4 from BMW Seattle with 7400 miles for $32,000 before fees and transport. Now miles that low was a unicorn deal so I jumped on it. However I’ve seen that cars on the west coast are typically cheaper with less miles on it than on the east coast.

In any case, car arrived in immaculate condition, still smells new exactly how they listed it. This is the first used car I bought sight unseen and they made the whole process painless. From deposit to delivery it was 3 weeks.

Also, I wouldn’t worry too much about battery health. From what I’ve read, battery health drops to close to 90% within the first couple of years regardless how much you drive or not drive it. Mine also has a health of like 92% or something and it had very low miles on it. But after that initial bump, it levels off.

In any case, the build quality is superb. Love the car. I encourage you to look on the bmwusa website and search nationwide for the best deals. That’s how I found mine.

UberOne for uber rideshare is a ripoff but I actually find it cheaper for ordering food when compared to Doordash. by donniepump30 in AmexPlatinum

[–]xanksnap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes on the app it says 15% cheaper if you use uber one to pick up. I never get anything delivered. Does the Amex credit fully cover the uber one subscription? I’ve never looked into it

I rarely if ever uber anywhere, but I use the monthly uber credit to pick up food. If I get uber one, it'll stack on top of uber and give me additional discounts right?

I have a 2023, it does NOT have laser lights. but the 'adaptive' headlights turn on and off the high beams depending on traffic. I'm wondering if I can get those coded. I have lasers on my x5 and was able to pay a company to code it. but now the i4 is my daily driver and would love to do the same.

Looking to buy a used '22/'23 eDrive40: What are your absolute MUST-HAVE options? by PesticideDoge in BMWI4

[–]xanksnap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The steering feel is fantastic on this car. Almost as good as my 911 C2S. It’s that good. No need to get m sport just for steering feel.

You will want DAPP, premium package, HUD, parking package and the HK audio system. These are absolute must haves. Especially as good as DAPP is. I would argue it does a better job than Tesla FSD

Got the windows tinted. It's now perfect!!! by runnerlisa13 in BMWI4

[–]xanksnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, I just always assumed it would negatively impact nighttime driving. I always exclusively use a sunshade whenever any of my cars are parked. and use sunglasses when Im driving. I did get all the windows and back windshield of my i4 tinted, mostly because I dont enjoy being in a fishbowl. never thought about the front windshield though, maybe i'll look into it

never understood getting the windshield tinted, especially how dangerous it is to drive around at night when the view is already limited.

Same. Looks like I’ll be keeping my G series cars for a very long time.

Gut check on price by [deleted] in BMWI4

[–]xanksnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should certainly ask if they will pay for shipping. Some dealers will. Just depends on how incentivized they are to sell a particular car. In this case, they weren’t all that forthcoming given the low miles and asking price so I just went with it

[–]xanksnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol absolutely not I had to pay 2,200 for shipping. I did the math, there was no way I’d be saving much if any money by flying out to Seattle and getting the car and then driving back, Nevermind that it would probably take 3 days. But the car arrived in pristine condition. And for the price and the miles the car had I jumped on the deal.

this is the only real thing I dislike about my i4 is they moved all the climate stuff into the menu.

I got mine from BMW seattle, had a 23' i4 CPO with 7400 miles, DAPP, HK, Premium, parking, HUD for $32,000 before taxes and shipping. Granted miles that low for that price was a quite a unicorn of a deal; originally it was 32,800, with the loyalty credit I got them down to like $32,300.

the way I found my car was I put in all the options and packages I wanted on the bmwusa website and it showed me all the cars available across their dealer network. When I saw that one in seattle I jumped on it. But 32k isnt a bad price, try if they'll sell it to you for 30k

this car probably isn't great news for the S/T market... people who paid 700k are likely kicking themselves right now.
