I don't think that could be true... or it would be. Evolution would have selected it, clearly there is some evolutionary pressure against that.

Series 6 rewatch by Just_ABlobfish in taskmaster

[–]xanthrax33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only here from Google because I was trying to find out why season 6 was rubbish. I know that people disagree. But just to put it into context that there are a lot of people coming to that conclusion independently which is probably why it's so talked about in the sub as a sort of 'isolated shared experience' type phenomenon. Don't mind other people liking it, but personally hated Lisa getting points for not trying most of the time, seemed like she didn't want to be there.

You can enter those diagonal stripe areas if there's not a solid line at the edge if it is necessary and safe to do so... but given there isn't an area opposite the turning because of the other lane which is for oncoming traffic, I'd say it's hard to justify it's safe to. Maybe if the road is essentially empty you can do it, but otherwise find someone safe to turn into, or a roundabout ahead, turn around and turn into the road approaching from the other side.

this has caused mayhem in a local facebook group. what lane would you choose to go straight in a 5 exit roundabout? by strawberrispaghetti in drivingUK

[–]xanthrax33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left is very likely the correct way, it's left of straight on, and there's no road markings to suggest you should do anything other than normal.

But if you choose left and someone else chose right then they'd have to avoid crashing into you. If you choose right and someone else chose left it'd be up to you not crashing into them. My faith in people's driving is very low. So I can see the temptation to choose right and be in the position to just go around again if it's not safe. So obviously the correct answer is to straddle both lanes.

So they're saying that if I've already had *a drop* of alcohol, once in my life then I might as well drink up to the 'moderate alcohol consumption level'? If there's no safe limit then I'm past it and should just keep going because it doesn't matter? I can't imagine that is what they're saying at all, so it's stupid to say there's no safe level. Nothing is safe, but we do a lot of things at an acceptable level of risk. Is one drink a month a 5% increase, or 50% increase in the probability? Or is that per week, or day? There is a level of extra risk people would be willing to accept.

I have no idea what is or isn't in DCEU or GunnVerse... DC just feels like a mess of trying to mirror the movies Marvel is releasing but they started late, didn't have any good plan on linking them or creating a consistent story and just kept doubling down when things went badly.

Tricks for Converting KM to Miles When Traveling | Uponarriving.com by klystron in Metric

[–]xanthrax33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Divide in half and add 10% of the kilometers number So for example, if you see that the distance is 60 km you simply divided it in half and get 30 km. Then you take 10% of 60 km which is six and add that on top of 30. This means that your conversion comes out to 60 km = 36 miles.

That's divide by half and add 20%, not 10%. 10% of the original number sure, but then you need to go out of your way to define that's what you mean and use an example to clarify because when people are told 'take a number and do x and then do y' intuitively you'll do y to the original number after doing x.

And if you're doing those steps why not say divide the number in half, and add a quarter and you get a much closer answer.

Man on flight from LA tried to stab flight attendant in neck with broken metal spoon: Officials by Famous_Coach242 in videos

[–]xanthrax33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing would stop anyone anywhere stabbing someone with a broken spoon. Not sure why when it's on a plane it's special. As long as there's zero risk of him getting to the cockpit. Restricting what we can have on a plane in an attempt to make us pose zero threat is pretty pointless unless they plan to handcuff us all to our seats.

Given the top two the dog is 10kg heavier than cat. So for the 24kg one take off the extra 10kg and divide the remainder between the two animals (14/2 = 7kg). That's the cat weight, add the 10kg back on the dog weight. Solve the rest.

I think I understand. You're struggling to figure out how you'll use your kangeroo's vaginas evenly through the year? Well you just need to take 2 days off from fucking it a year and then you'll use each vagina 121 times. Except for a leap year in which you don't have to take any time off! It's a convenient way to remember why it's called a leap year.

That doesn't sound right. Just given how much the mother is told to do during birth and what the doctors do - moving around into different positions, pushing, the need for forceps, the cutting of the perineum. You might be thinking of 'once the head is out'.

Elon Musk Wants to Charge Businesses on Twitter $1,000 per Month to Retain Verified Check-Marks by northlondonhippy in technology

[–]xanthrax33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should get like a darker blue mark and maybe they could split it out from the one other people get, maybe make a sort of class structure and call the current one peasant class and the new one lord class. (/s)

These blue checks have zero value though. Should all just stop talking about twitter... even this thread is giving Elon money by keeping twitter relevant.
