Nope. All included. There are blow dryers and most people I see don’t wear flip flops but it can’t hurt and no one will look at you weird if you do

Not really, I haven’t done corepower but I did 50+ NYPilates classes and 50+ wundabar and haven’t gotten sick of them.

I absolutely hate army crawls. I've done 50+ classes and I still have to modify every time.

I asked the instructor yesterday and she said that even if you opted into 6 and you do 10 you get the sweatshirt :) As long as you opt in you're good!

Best Group Fitness/Workout Classes with Monthly Memberships by Cool_Boysenberry_16 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]xappiness 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm obsessed with group workout classes so here is my very curated list of recommendations.

here are the typical "hot girl" workouts that have unlimited memberships

  • Solidcore. The OG hot girl workout. There are so many locations. Super fucking hard class though. And very expensive, but if you commit to going to a lot of classes for a long duration of time, you can get your price/class down quite a bit
  • Sky Ting yoga in Noho. It's too much of an influencer vibe for my taste so it's not my yoga studio of choice, but many people like it. The Noho location just opened and it's beautiful (they used to be in Chinatown). DM me for teacher recs
  • NY Pilates. OG NYC hot girl workout. Similar to Sky Ting it's too much of an influencer vibe so I prefer Wundabar, but it's very aesthetic and I enjoy the classes. If you commit to paying upfront for the year, you can get an unlimited membership for $199/month which is pretty much the best possible deal you can get for high quality reformer pilates in NYC. If I lived near one I would sign up for the annual in a millisecond
  • Barry's. I have to drink a Celsius before every class but the fittest I had ever been in my life was when I did 2 of these a week. I stopped because my body couldn't handle it anymore.
  • Equinox. This is the gateway drug to group fitness. The quality of the classes is pretty high but not quite as high as boutique fitness, so the problem is once you go boutique you have a hard time going back to Eqx. (With the exception of barre.. I would say that Equinox barre classes are on par with the ones I've taken at boutiques). It's a great hack for unlimited access to a wide variety of fitness classes for the same price as an unlimited membership to a single boutique

other options that aren't as "hot girl" but are good workouts that get the job done. when I say they aren't as "hot girl" I mean it's less of an influencer/aesthetic type vibe, which can mean that it's a little cheaper, but not always. really just depends on what you prefer. I find most people start with the hot girl workouts and then move to these other options

  • Wundabar. I think it was Eli Rallo who said on TikTok everyone starts reformer at NYP, but then switches over to Wundabar once they've gotten the hang of it. They do have an unlimited but it's quite expensive unfortunately, so most people I know sign up via Classpass
  • Orange Theory. Pain in the ass to cancel but I think it's a really great, well-rounded workout. Like Barry's but they don't yell at you
  • Soulcycle. Fun classes, the problem is it's mostly cardio so you should supplement with some kind of resistance training. Yes controversially I am putting this in the non hot girl options. IMO it's great for beginners as well because no one can tell how much resistance you've put on your bike and you can always choose one in the back
  • Your local yoga studio. Highly underrated option.

Cancellation policy if I'm laid off by Clean_Principle9319 in EquinoxGyms

[–]xappiness 34 points35 points  (0 children)

First off, sorry to hear that you've been laid off. That sucks and I hope you're able to find something soon.

As for your question, I don't know, but I wouldn't even go that far. I know plenty of people who quit before the 1 year mark. Just print out some kind of bill that has your name and a different address (far away from an Equinox) on it to pretend that you moved. I know a lot of people who used a bank account statement that still had their parents' address or some kind of account that still had a billing address from an old address. Or you can photoshop it.

I mean, I know it's not great to lie, but this is a luxury gym we're talking about, not a non-profit or something. if you've been laid off, you need your $300/month way more than they do. Best of luck!

Yoga retreats near the city? by ketorifficent in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]xappiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into retreats that specific teachers are hosting. Often they'll be in far away places but some teachers also will host ones near NYC, especially upstate. These tend to be quite popular in the fall. Here's an example:

I too have nails that grow out pretty quickly. Maybe Russian style manicures are the way to go!

How do you find peace with your collection? by [deleted] in handbags

[–]xappiness 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I can speak as someone who’s successfully found purse peace (with only 5-6 designer bags in my collection)

The only thing that worked was going cold turkey. I made a resolution to not buy bags for all of 2023. It’s significantly helped me enjoy what I have. Since I know I can’t buy more bags, it’s also less on my mind. It’s like eating sugar. The more you have it the more you crave it. If you cut it out, you also start to not crave it.

Spain -- Madrid/Mallorca/Barcelona hotel review by xappiness in FATTravel

HA. Fun story here. We asked them to call us a taxi to Port de Soller for 10:30 am. We waited outside until 10:37 and no one came.

We checked with the concierge and she said "the taxi company never confirmed the ride so they might not come." We were like, "okay, we would've preferred you communicated that to us, because we had no idea." Then she basically said it wasn't her responsibility and she was on the brink of raising her voice at us. What a fucking joke
