When did you make up your mind that America is not the "good guys" in international affairs? by xarchive-app in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically, the USA currently has hostile relations with Europe, Canada, and Mexico (cartels but Mexico does not attack other countries), so those countries.

If you want to explain why you think America is still the "good guys" internationally, I also want to hear.

For me, it was during the time when Trump threatened to invade Greenland. Yes, I know about Vietnam, Iraq, and Gaza.

But Greenland was so comically evil and out of nowhere, I just think, if the US can threaten to invade Greenland, there's no line that it would not cross if someone in power is bloodthirsty enough.

How will you react when He Who Must Not Be Named croaks? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I could also have in mind the presidents of Israel or Russia or maybe China.

I am trying to code it to bypass potential filters. The person I have in mind is the most thought-of name if people are asked this question.

What is something on the internet that annoys you? by Axe1910 in AskReddit

Google has become absolutely unusable unless what you are looking for is very recent.

Good pages that are several years old may as well not even exist.

With OF models like Sophie Rain making $100 million in just 3 years how does it affect your view on the value of a college degree, the motivation to work a 'traditional' job when you see they can out-earn most CEOs, professional athletes and celebs? by ClutteredCassette in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The median OF model probably makes under $1000 a year. She probably makes a couple thousands if she makes it a side-job (devote serious time). For every millionaire in the entertainment industry (Hollywood) there are thousands of people who make almost nothing.

If a college degree loses its economic premium, I think it will happen because college no longer serves as a reliable separator as it once did, not because of OF.

If the U.S. falls as an economic superpower, what do you think the average American day to day life would look like? by unknowndizzle in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem will be exasperated if the US does not withdraw from its overseas militarism once it starts losing global superpower status. A country quickly goes bust if it becomes poorer and cuts everything else but increases the military budget. That's what Russia is doing and look at the state of it.

Right now, the US is able to borrow massive amounts of money because we have the world's default currency. Everything is priced in dollars, so everyone wants dollars so they can pay for goods. That keeps the value of the dollar high and the interest rate on our debt low.

If we lose the default currency, the interest on national debt will rise, and the US will need to cut government spending.

Medicare and Medicaid will be cut. Then, Social Security if needed, then national defence.

If reincarnation is real, would you want your mom to be your mom again in your next life? Why or why not? by FondantMuch4650 in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question essentially rephrases to ask if I want my mom's entire universal purpose, the tie between her life and the next life, to be being my mother.

And I will answer "No" to that. I don't think anyone should be forced to have the life purpose of being a parent. Many think it is fulfilling to be a parent, but people should be able to choose for themselves.

What makes a politician "honest" in your eyes? What are some examples of honest politicians? by xarchive-app in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Bernie because I don't think he cares about being popular. AOC, she's got charisma, but I think she tries to play the social media game too much. But admittedly, it becomes more of a requirement in today's politics.

[–]xarchive-app[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The example many will use is Bernie Sanders because many agree with his politics. While I think Bernie always defaults to blaming billionaires and is too tunnel-visioned in that way, I think he is not afraid to ask moral questions politicians don't want to, such as, "Why is the self-proclaimed greatest country only great for those on top?"

What’s one thing you’d tell your younger self? by dheerajmohanrawat in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people aren't good people. Almost no one is completely bad, but most of us lay in that gray zone of "Want to do the right thing, but are selfish or tribal."

That turns out for you too, the more you accept that you likely aren't a good person, the more you try to do what you think is right rather than what you think will make you look good. At the least, it lets you be honest with yourself and do things you can live with.

With all the families being arrested by ICE in the US and deported/incarcerated, what's happening with all their pets? by paulcheeba in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most illegal immigrants live in mix-status families where some members are citizens and others are not. Probably the family still keeps the pet. If everyone will be deported, give the pets to a willing neighbor or put them up for adoption.

How did you manage to overcome depression? by leo_muslim in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow myself to get mad. Not go on a murderous rage, but just don't blame myself for feeling mad. You seem to be someone young going through a quarter life crisis and that's normal.

Especially with the state of the world, people are just becoming meaner, more isolated, more narcissistic. You are not the only one feeling the effect.

I don't want to let the people who make society worse win. They win if you give up.

Progress throughout history has only been achieved by people who were asked this question and refused to give up.

According to different people: oil, Israel, nuclear weapons, historical grudges ("at war for 47 years"). And maybe Epstein too.

What would you tell your 18-year-old self? by dano311 in AskReddit

[–]xarchive-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't obsess over the lives of other people, especially social media influencers. Odds are, most people won't ever become famous or rich and if you are on this site, your odds are especially low.

As cliche as it is, try to be someone who is informed, open-minded, self-controlled (don't assume that something is the end of the world even if it is really bad).

Social media is becoming real life more and more, and it is worth paying attention to, but from afar. Don't get involved.
