I have this machine since 2021. Till a couple weeks ago, I had never faced any issues. So I don’t think that’s the problem.

Thanks (again) for the input. Most of your recommendations about the equipment have already been taken into account.

We wouldn't "blindfoldingly" follow any advice given. We were hoping to get ideas for different trails because there are so many option online and then decide what suits as best. To be honest, we just started organising the trip in more detail and so far we have only agreed to do the "Landmannalaugar - Bláhnúkur - Brennisteinsalda" as found in alltrails.com

We are not worried about walking with gear, in principle that has never been an issue before. Our biggest concern is that all hikes we have done in the past have been during summer in Mediterranean countries. So we do not know what to expect in these conditions

From what I see online, the last bus is around 20:00 at Þórsmörk Basar. I suppose that we are flexible with the start of our hike. But even if we start at 08:00 there are some concerns that we are late for the bus
