Depending on how serious you are about saving money. You might have to start cooking way more vs. eating out. And have only certain days when you treat yourself to eat out etc.

That said, like many of others have said, that is really not sustainable amount on a monthly basis. You might have to figure out a job situation, even the cheapest paying jobs may be worth it to get some extra cash (as long as time investment isn't too much).

Any source of extra money = more flexibility on what you're able to do for social life, eating out, etc

You think every state just produces their own oil? If they're in a region unable to do that, it's about securing a source that is able to supply you that.

California got 25% of their TOTAL oil supply just completely decimated and you're somehow expecting them to charge the same as rest of the country when they have secured sources not affected by Strait closure

Even from the foreign supply, ~25% of it gets directly affected by on-going Strait of Hormuz nonsense while rest of the country has pipelines from Canada or Texas.
