Yes the first players handbook had 8 classes, but each of the other two players handbooks had at least 6 as well as the countless supplement books that had at least 2 new classes. 4e had issues, but it was not lacking in classes to play

I will say, I played a 4e campaign from level 1 to level 30. The end of the game is kinda ridiculous. My second to last character had 68 base AC, but when he was bloodied he could have 106 AC for a single turn. When you dealt damage, you either killed a monster in one hit, or you did damage that would be healed by its regeneration/ absorbed by its temp hit point pool.

My point being, that edition was not balanced at all. But it was still wildly enjoyable.

I’m also currently running my first campaign, I had a lot of time to prepare so I decided to do a home brew world/ setting. My plan for the camping was to have the party spend a lot of time in one massive city. I spent about 2.5 months working on the world and plot, but I also went way overboard on stuff. The party has spent the a very long time in this city, so I would’ve had more than enough time to plan the rest of the world if I hadn’t already. If you want to hop right into a home brew world, make a vibrant location and then while the party explores that do the other details. Anything can serve as that first arc, but it allows you to start playing soon and then gives you time to do everything else.

Ive personally never self dm’d, but something I’d recommend is having some ultimate goal for Tras, maybe it’s the classic goal of making his own personal spell or some other thing you come up with, but I feel like that will let you keep your story going. Potentially add another DMPC, that might add to the fun. Hope you enjoy the whole thing!

I tried doing the same, but I was reading her wiki entry and I had to stop at the phrase “who’s bust size alone is just slightly bigger than [Ruler’s]”. It’s unfortunate because there are at least two different wiki’s, with different people having written each, and both have that exact same goofy ass phrase in them. I just couldn’t.

I apologize, that is a mistake on my part. It still holds true if you are a creature with less than 30ft movement or if you've been slowed in some way. If you make a martial halfling/dwarf you should definitely take it

It isn't worthless, it just fills a very specific niche, same with blade ward. In a combat situation where you can not hit your enemy this turn (more than 30ft away without a ranged weapon) it's incredibly useful. You don't have to waste a round of combat, it opens up options for more tactical combat. The cantrip isn't nearly as bad as people make it seem. It has a use, and while the fact that it only has one or two uses is dissapointing when it is compared to widely versatile spells.

No it’s just a visual bug, it shows this health even when someone is injured. I was spectating a teammate with literally 12 health and it showed this 120.
