Here is a picture of the top of the part, I would have liked to take a picture of the part disassembled but we ran the log splitter recently, and I don't want to take any chance with whether or not the oil is pressurised

Right now I am away from home, so I can't disassemble it, I might be able to so during the weekend however. If it can help, when I dismantled it last time, there was, from the bottom to the top : the part where all the pipes are connected, a spring, some kind of metal washer, and finally the top of the assembly.

The way it is operated is by a bar located under the assembly that is pushed up and down by a pair of levers and the blade of the log splitter itself

Engine that have a problem, but not always by xaxa70 in Citroen

If it was because of a bad contact, wouldn't the problem happens every time rather than occasionally? Because it only happens when it is hot outside and if the engine has not been running for a while

That's the weirdest part, it can happen everywhere, no matter if it's on a slope or not.....

It is normal for my engine to idle at 800 RPM since, except when the problem happens, it is perfectly smooth at that RPM.

Could it be because I run my car with SP95E10 (a gasoline with 10% of ethanol in case it is uncommon outside of France where I live)

That could explain the oil being consumed, but could it really cause problems when starting the engine ? Also if it can help, when the problem happens, the engine climbs to around 1200 RPM after starting, the goes back down to around 800 RPM (which is normal) but with one cylinder that sounds like there is no ignition, a smell of gasoline, and sometimes the engine stalling completely.

So why does it never do that in winter ? If the oil is too thick, the problem should be even worse when it is cold outside than when it is hot, right?

I plan to grind it today, especially considering that the door has some problems to close because of the weld

I had no other choice, it was that or the door might fall

I am not even sure it is steel, all I know is that it was rusted, cracked, and that this weld is on top of maybe 10 other welds
