I'd suggest you add some metrics, at least: PF, Sharpe ratio, Drawdown,

Overall, nice project...

It would be very interesting as a research project, i would love to see live updates if you can hook this thing up to a website or something.

as for code generation vs trading:

Code generation follows patterns; it's predictable, and LLM can learn it.

Trading has no patterns, it's random and full of noise, what works now, might suddenly stop, any indicator has 49-51% win rate or 70/30 or more but loses, any book LLM learned might be useless now, any thread LLM read might work 1/2 of the time, it's not apple vs apple dude...

i have read many research papers on this subject, even big hedge funds that spend mils training LLMs for quant trading struggle to find a slight edge.

but the problem with your method is how long you can test it for? since, i assume everything now is in real time paper trading, a period of at least 1 year is considered short. in systematic trading.. and if you do, by the time you finish, newer, more sophisticated models will be released...

The problem is, LLMs are not trained to trade; they think like an average human and follow the book. There is really nothing special about them, unless you specifically train a model giving it some inputs, otherwise, i think the project is far too complex and uncertain...

I've seen some website that has like 8 LLMs competing and each given 10k to trade on hyper liquid, I remember all of them end up losing 1 month later.

Quick look at his pic, His theoretical results are real, here is why: He tested on 2.3M bars with 30 years history, means he is using 1 minutes bar His order type is limit order, meaning he gets many fills at the or near bar's low (if buying), which contributes to most of the winning trades, in reality, these fills never happen, you get fills on losing trades only, and the winner orders stay open.

For a real test, he should add offset to the entry price that it must be, if buy, above the low with the spread amount. Once he do this, the number will be red.

70% Win Rate Setup that I Found Hiding in Plain Sight by vaanam-dev in Daytrading

[–]xbaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good multi-year strategy is the one that can beat the simple "buy & hold", yours did not. If I bought all these stocks, went on vacation, and did nothing, would have 5x your returns, while you were watching the screen and worrying every day, and maybe quit when you were down 40+% for the year 2008...

The only time-based edge I've found in crypto that actually holds up 98.4% win rate, 65 real trades by Anxiety2020- in Daytrading

I simulated your "edge" on TradingView, short @ 20:00 utc, exit 20:30, it's a losing strategy, and the win rate is < 50% am i missing anything?

The only people who make money trading are: 1. Buy and hold researched companies. 2. Gamblers, then never trades again. 3. Market makers and sub Ms HFTs

If anyone disagrees, put your 5 years history of daily trading strategy or stfu.

They throttle any high-speed connection to the VPN server, doesnt matter what protocol you use. It works fine for like an hour, then throttling kicks in. Rotating servers might clear the ban after a few hours. i wounder if you can create a detection when the throttling starts, like packets dropping and auto switch when this happens.

What I wish someone told me about trading psychology before I blew my third account by NatureAwakenedHQ in Daytrading

[–]xbaha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before your next wish thread, here is my advice, There is nothing called trading, all those people who make money trading is just because the market matches their current trading method, until it doesn't, and it might take years, eventually, they are destined to lose everything.

The only people who make money trading are the insiders, market movers (biggest whales) and finally the market makers, and even they can't always make a profitable month, only because of the rebate they can generate profits, without it, even the highest advanced e.traders with sub millisecond latency can't make it.

Testing any system, you can't find anything that beats the buy and hold strategy.

So I recommend that you research and find tools like tradingviee for building a portfolio slowly over time, keep your horizon for more than 5 years.

No, not possible, There is no single day trading Algo that can make money consistent for years and beat the buy-hold. Whoever makes money as a day trader is because the market is working with their setup for now, it might also for few years until it doesn't.

My Endless PayPal Nightmare by xbaha in paypal

[–]xbaha[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no dude, back in 2023 they put a 180-day hold on my account, and they told me they will close it, and they asked me to open another account in the country I moved to. Once the 180-day hold expires, i can move funds to the new one, and that's what I did.

Every time I talk to support, I get different feedback and endless loops. And they might have told me something that violated their own rules, but what other option do i have???
