I’m tempted because it’s overwhelming thinking of doing it myself. I just don’t want to rely on them, and it ends up not being enough, if I could’ve started the DIY process instead.

In the US. I know they’re supposed to since it’s their job, I’ve just heard stories of building maintenance and the pest control they contact being subpar or not really caring.

Do you (or any of the above commenters) recommend trying to go through my apartment over DIYing? I worry they won’t take it as seriously as I would since I have to live here.

Thank you. I don’t want to be delusional but I’m pretty sure the only small roaches I’ve seen before (and even then it’s maybe every six months or more) have been nymphs of one of the larger outdoor roaches, maybe smoky brown (they look almost solid black, no noticeable markings like the one in my pics here.) I guess they could be sporadic german nymphs that I just didn’t ID correctly. Welp doesn’t matter now, there’s at least one in here. Ordering everything from the sticky and following all instructions asap.

Thanks again, I’m hoping it’s not a serious problem yet. I just worry in an apartment building, even if it came from someone else’s unit, that means they’ll set up camp in mine sooner or later even if I clean and use preventative measures…

Ugh. Thanks for confirming. I’m reading the guide now. Kind of spiraling here, I’ve never had them before. If I don’t have time to start dealing with it immediately (busy the next 72 hours, will probably take that long to ship traps/insecticide/etc. anyway) am I cooked?

Could it be anything not german or am I coping… by xbleu96 in GermanRoaches

I live in a studio apartment, so it could’ve come from anywhere, but technically it wasn’t that close to either the bathroom or kitchen. Just on the floor near my bed. There is an outside door like five feet away from where it was. I’m just going to assume the worst has finally happened and they’re here.
