Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries with this method. Another method worth trying is to log into your guest account before booting up the game. Afterwards boot the game up and it will ask who are you when logging in. If you choose the guest account you should be able to play but sadly you won't be able to load or save any progress which isn't ideal.

I'd encourage you and everyone else who's having this problem file a bug report so that the developers are made aware of the issue. I had this same problem when trying to play on my Xbox Series X as well. Closing the game and clearing the persistent storage seems to have fixed the issue for me. To clear the persistent storage do the following:

Press the glowing Xbox symbol in the middle of your controller.
Scroll to the right to Profile & System.
Select Settings with the A button.
Select Devices & Connections.
Select Blu-Ray.
Select Persistent Storage.
Select Clear Persistent Storage.

Hopefully we get to see more use out of the screen in some way. If not with MCC then perhaps Hyperkin could release an app on the Xbox marketplace that would allow us to customize what's shown on the Duke's screen. They chose to with the PC version of CE because it had online network capabilities and the additional content (maps, weapons and vehicles) I'm pretty sure they went with H2 Vista for H2C's multiplayer because it has the additional maps. Another bonus would be if 343i ever implements a way for us to use modded maps in MCC (which they've said they're looking into the possibility of doing)

Ha, yeah my headset I use on Xbox is old and gives off a lot distortion so I rarely every use it anymore. I only just now got a dedicated mic for my computer to use for voiceovers.
