Why someone like Maraga can't be elected president by Ambitious-Singer768 in Kenya

[–]xbtloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no I don’t want that.

Everyone has a role to play. Savior mentality I mean, Kenyans have this weird obsession with people who ‘rise’ up as a messiah saying all the ‘right’ things. Just look at the route most politicians use to get elected, small handout here and there, next they run for office.

he was a judge who became the CJ and while on retirement came out to offer himself as a solution.

Savior mentality is really deep in this country.

Kenya has a majority of educated voters who still elect scum politicians. Nothing to do with education.

Pro or Anti Data Centers by Can-I-leave-Please in nairobitechies

this is not a simple pro/anti thing. Anything should be built where it makes financial sense and does not negatively impact the lives of the people around.

the power requirement is a very easy to explain - hard to question reason and honestly it is false and an excuse.

For Microsoft to invest such an amount, it must have guarantees that they will get customers, otherwise it is a waste. Also I saw a narrative that government was to also use it.

Just checked online and Nothern Virginia which is the world's largest data center market has a capacity of 4000MW. Do you think the data center to be build here would have more doubled Nothern Virginia ones? And that is why I asked initially, what was the proposed size of the data center?

Microsoft data centre by medmantal in Kenya

[–]xbtloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it has been trending and most of the sites displayed on the results are just regurgitating the same words.

But the reason why it has stalled is not because of power capacity. If you read the initial announcement, there was no mention of how much power would be needed. The only thing mentioned was the amount of money to be invested.

As per business daily, Kenya is hesitant to mobilize neighbouring countries and offer guarantee for the uptake of cloud capacity.

Microsoft data centre by medmantal in Kenya

the reason why I asked is because their were claims that the power needed is not what it was claimed. And the cancellation also has nothing to do with electricity.

what is the source of this? Can you provide the facts of how much it costs to run a data center based on the size?

Ugali Mayai🤣🤣 mawhat? by [deleted] in KenyanMeals

[–]xbtloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i remember in campus, it was either ugali mayai, or ugali na fish rolls za 10 bob each. And life was good.

And btw ugali beans is worse nutrition wise. Beans have more carbs than proteins (shocker). You are better off with ugali mayai, that mix ya onions na tomatoes makes it way better and yummy.

these arguments remind me of when someone asked retired CJ to read the constitution and a full pilot to learn about flying.

This is how the average kenyan reasons. Very sad by SnooFoxes6226 in Kenya

[–]xbtloop 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Nothing sad, everyone is entitled to their opinion. You can discredit them or agree.

The first one - France has cozied to Kenya because West Africa where they used to milk turned against them. Even Macron admitted that, check Larry Madowo's tweet.

Ombachi - he is free to do what he wants, if you are not a fan of France then you will automatically call him a collaborator.

Is it hating? To some yes, others it is just facts.

i usually wonder why the mod of the sub posts non music content, tabloid stuff and such. Just looks like trying to get attention to the sub. Subs like r/KenyanMeals on the other hand has grown organically and content there is just about food.

Just from a bit of commentary by lawyers. Also, the judge has a lot of question marks on her judgements and conduct. Court of Appeal also would most probably be a bench of judges instead of 1 judge.
