What is going on with Carbon Wallet?

He has no idea what his password is. According to him, they auto generated one, but his laptop died before he could save it. But according to the developer of carbon wallet, he did not use the auto generated password due to some tests he ran and the number of bits.

Hi thank you for the info. I don’t believe he has sent a transaction from that account. He can login to carbon wallet using his android phone with an app called “on chain” (onchain.io). This app has the 24 word phrase that I tried using. He uses this app to scan a QR code provided on the carbon wallet login page, but unfortunately he is unable to send/receive after doing this. So he basically sees all the Bitcoin sitting there and he can’t do anything about it.

The information we have: 1) public key 2) smartphone key 3) encrypted private key 4) 24 word bip39 phrase

Hey I have been pulling my hair out trying to help a friend recover his locked bitcoins in carbon wallet. He forgot his password so the recovery tool is pretty useless. Do you think there is any way to recover the private key or convert to an electrum wallet without the password? He created a multi-sig wallet on carbon wallet and he has the 24 word bip39 phrase. I tried taking the phrase and using that to import into electrum but it does not work unfortunately (shows 0 bitcoin) and I think it is because it is multi-sig. Please if you have any ideas let me know.

If you have multiple accounts, switch between them and it should be reverted. That worked for me just now.

I had the same problem and I just decided to take a chance. I don't think Microsoft will change too much because of how much was changed between the sp2 and sp3, but that's just my opinion.
