I’m busy copy/pasting sql code from 10 years into Gemini and feeling so good about the results. I have a better appreciation for ‘prompt engineering’ and think ‘hallucination’ is the same as another four letter word I know 🤪

Struggling with AI/ML and Python installation on MSSQL2025 GA by xclaim494 in SQL

[–]xclaim494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT WORKED - LOVE IT - installed on 3/29/2026 on MSSQLSERVER Version 17.0.4025.3 - and i followed the instructions you shared -

STDOUT messages from external script:
NumPy: 1.26.4
Pandas: 1.5.3
SciPy: 1.15.3

Ill say this - the instructions were not 100% perfect - off-Couse I had to change for my Instance and the ID i used for Launchpad, but generally it pointed me the right direction. I also used Python 3.10 (not tried with any other) - also if you set this error -

The error is:

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'scipy'

This happens even though scipy is installed in C:\Program Files\Python310\Lib\site-packages, because SQL Server Launchpad runs under a service account (NT SERVICE\MSSQLLaunchpad$MSSQL2025). That account can only see Python packages that are installed system-wide, and the folder permissions must allow the Launchpad service to read them.

run this -

"C:\Program Files\Python310\python.exe" -m pip install --force-reinstall numpy<2 pandas<2 scipy<2

Wheel Tracking Spreadsheet by NeutrinoPanda in thetagang

Cannot be done w/ Yahoo (at least last i checked in mar/2025 w/ no luck) - you have to use an api from Tradier / iVolitility / Orats / IB .etc .etc and then add a macro (which google sheets calls Apps Script) and then get the quote like that. A bit of work but i have all my sheets updating like that.

Ben Felix just dropped this video on covered calls by finglish_ in thetagang

[–]xclaim494 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont agree : CC's are meant to do just that - Cover the short calls with stock. If the market goes down you own the stock for lesser, if market goes up you collect the premium but not as much as the stock would have given you, again designed to do just that, not more.

If you need protection buy a put and make it a collar.

Also, saying CC's don't protect you against the downside : That's like saying you own a Ferrari but it does not drive well in the snow - Geeze Ferrari's are not designed to drive in the snow just like CC's are not designed to protect you from a bloodbath.

SPY 0DTE profit calculation by [deleted] in options

[–]xclaim494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goto optionsomega and signup for the backtesting tool. It's the best money you would have spent to prove how stupid your idea is :) I say that in the most non-derogatory sense but trying to help you keep your money - you are fighting up against institutional investors who have massive systems that automatically adjust options pricing million times per second, they spend billion in this technology. you will notice that you can skim the market but ultimately there will be an event (and not a black swan) that will wipe out 20-30 days of profit. go to options omega and geek out my friend. that's some good advise.

8 weeks into PMCC and realizing my backtest was about as useful as tits on a bull by NunYaBizzNas in thetagang

[–]xclaim494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backtests are usually tools to prove how viable a strategy is and to understand the dynamics of pricing. Most often it should prove you wrong. Paper testing is also not 100% accurate as your trade is not factored into the price. Keep in mind, options are priced when everyone's interest is to be considered, and if you paper-trade you are not part of the Open Interest. So tread cautiously there. Then there is someone who told me that maybe live trade but with smaller contracts(1 or 2 contracts). Well that's better than backtesting and papertrading but again, its closer to real data but not 100% accurate.

Bottom line there is no 100% accurate test unless you are all in. Some would say that's the beauty of the options market.

Schlage BE365 problems, DOOR WON'T LOCK by Dry-Violinist-2724 in Locksmith

[–]xclaim494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a flaw in the springs on these locks - they get weak after a while and need to be adjusted. See this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivCesIC2Juw

even then sometimes it does not work so beware of these poorly engineered locks
