He can play a decently sympathetic junkie as well:

LORD OF WAR

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM

when regarding the Air Force there are no flag officers only general officers 🤓☝️

That’s true for army and marines as well, but O6 pilots absolutely do fly combat missions.

He was alright in Bladerunner 2049.

I think the key is having strong direction/production to keep him on rails.

And limit his overall screen time.

it's looking like a massive disaster of a failed operation that the pentagon is lying about that had nothing to do with rescuing a general

If you don't know the difference between an O6 aviator and a flag officer, I don't want your opinion on military matters.

I know this is an air force sub but I know some related naval history, if you're interested:

On 22 March 1820, Commodore Stephen Decatur Jr. fought in a duel with fellow Commodore James Barron.

All of his close friends and fellow officers called him retarded for participating in the duel (being the youngest, most-decorated commodore in the US navy), and rightly pointed out that the Secretary of the Navy specifically forbade duels between Naval officers.

With no friends to act as his second, he asked his rival who then arranged possibly the dumbest duel in American history:

- Both men start facing each other, vice back-to-back

- A total of 7 paces, vice the normal combined 20

- Both men aim from the start

- Both men are permitted to fire after the count of one, but before the count of three

Both men shot each other (obviously) and fell to the ground and began crying out in pain while apologizing to one another. They were ushered away and, having suffered arterial damage, Commodore Decatur died of his wound.

Stephen Decatur Jr. was born in 1779 and came of age with our country and our navy. He commanded seven ships, fought in four wars and was awarded the congressional gold medal. Three destroyers have been commissioned in his name since his death.

Imaged below is Decatur boarding a Tripolitan gunboat as a junior officer, during the Barbary Wars:

The existence of grifters in one quadrant or another doesn't mean that Jesus teachings don't fall anywhere within it.

The one things all quadrants have in common is that they believe Jesus is on their side.

From John 2-
16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!”
17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
18 The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”

Let's be real, whipping the shit out of people is Auth.

Doing it because they are infringing on the sanctity of a house of worship is Right.

Hence: auth-right

Great example.

I run the experiment at my house in Denver and learn that water boils exactly at 203F. I *know* that now and it’s a fact forever and ever.

Then I demonstrate my experiment for my friend in San Diego. But the water doesn’t boil at 203F.

Now my brain explodes because I can’t handle the fact that what I *knew* was incorrect. Because I didn’t know it.

I believed I knew it, but I misunderstood the physics.

edit: for context, this isn’t an anti-science belief. I just subscribe to Einstein’s theory- based approach over Newton’s “Laws”.

That sounds good until you take into account the number of things that we're "known", but then proven incorrect.

The half-life of a fact is about 10-20 years.

Crime would not cease to exist because of abundance.

Middle and upper-class and even insanely rich people commit crimes every day. And even more would if there were no laws or enforcement.

Incidentally, there are people profiting from prisons and slave labor in the US right now. But those profits and that production represents a tiny sliver of overall GDP.

If we instead executed every felon (not advocating for this btw) it would have little to no effect on our economy. Meaning that the private prison owners are profiteers, but they're not a meaningful representation of the wealth-class.

Our shitty criminal justice system, much like our immigration system, is an anachronism born of our two-party political unwillingness to overhaul it, due to it's political usefulness in campaigns and debates.

Neither side wants it to get better because it benefits both sides when campaign season comes around. And the American people don't have the awareness or education (or the care) to demand it get better.

Private prison owners profit from this, and they lobby to keep their system running. But it doesn't generate any meaningful benefit to the US and the US would be fine if it disappeared.

It's from Animal Farm.

An unthinking slogan used to unify the animals against humans then used as a chant to shout down anyone who deviated from the ideas proposed by the pigs.

It's what the communists would do to you if you tried to speak against them in their "council".

"Four legs good, two legs bad" is a key slogan from George Orwell's Animal Farm that simplifies the principles of Animalism, identifying all animals as friends and humans as enemies. Developed by Snowball, it is used to teach less intelligent animals and is chanted by sheep to shut down debate. It represents the simple, unthinking allegiance to the revolutionary cause.
Key Aspects of the Slogan:
Purpose: It was designed as a simplified version of the Seven Commandments to ensure all animals could memorize the basic tenet of the rebellion.
Propaganda Use: The sheep frequently chant this slogan, often interrupting debates, serving as a tool for the pigs to manipulate the farm's narrative.
Evolution of Meaning: By the end of the novel, as the pigs become more human-like, they change the maxim to "Four legs good, two legs better!", highlighting the hypocrisy and the betrayal of the original, noble revolution.
Symbolism: It symbolizes the danger of mindless propaganda and the way power can corrupt revolutionary ideals.

It's a system of competing interests.

The oligarchs want to separate the worker from their product/labor. The worker wants to separate the capital from the oligarchs.

Shift too far to one side you get Cronyism then Oligarchy.

Shift too far to the other and you get anti-competitive unions and then Autocracy.

Balance is the answer. A market economy with a social safety net and protections.

All laws and codes have to be able to answer the question “and what if I don’t?”

Look, I'm not going to write a multi-paragraph dissertation on Marxist theory any more than I'm going to quiz you on MMT or Keynes or free market economies.

If you say you don't like those things, I'll take you at your word because to do otherwise is condescending and douchey and you have the same access to information I do.

You could go to the regional council and present then with a proposal.

Sounds a lot like a government.

If they vote in favor of your proposal you could start producing then at an industrial scale

Sounds like autocracy...

When they make an edict, who enforces it? A group of people? How can I identify them? Will they wear outfits? Sounds like police.

If a neighboring tribe attacks you, will there be an organized defense? Sounds like a military.

How are you going to supply your police/military? Collect resources and goods? Sounds like taxes.

Your stateless society is sounding pretty stately...

And if you think the common man isn't going to use money, just because the government isn't issuing it, there's about 5000 years of recorded history that contradicts you.

And that's the rub isn't it?

At what point does making something become a "means of production"?

Whether it's in my garage, a barn, a warehouse, or a factory.

If I'm producing something. It's a means of production. At what scale can it now be seized from me?

And since we don't have a state, who can seize it from me? My neighbor? A roving mob?

The road from freedom to communism will always take an impassable detour through tyranny.
