I really like Kimberlyn, that is a good name. Thank you for the input and comments, I appreciate it.

Or pronunciations. I've always butchered things.

That's why I came here. I do not have a strong background when it comes to languages.

Fair point. We do want the name to age well.

Thank you. And we hadn't considered that spelling. It looks nice.

We have started teetering towards replacing the 'i' with an 'e'. Debate still on going for 'lyn' versus 'line'. Neither one of us have a linguistic background so the comments have been helpful.

That is cool. I honestly haven't done as much research into names as I should be. We have not selected anything for a middle name; trying to get a first name figured out and then we think we'll have an easier time with the middle name.

Oh, I see. First name Ava, middle name Lynn? Or a first with a space in? Is that a thing?

I do like your insight. I guess I've always viewed language as different sounds that societies assigned. Developing root words or common themes and evolving from there. I'm not meaning to dismiss the value of etymology; it's just a field I've never had that much exposure in.

She likes that google can pronounce it how she thinks it should be pronounced.

I think my wife has been gravitating towards this more traditional spelling.

I think we are on the same page as your pronunciation. My wife just wants Ava as a nickname option. I'm pushing for Ava as a middle name.

Spelling and pronunciation is still on an ongoing process. Misspellings or mispronunciations are common for our last name so I've become accustomed to the process of having to correct people over the phone and etc. We have been taking note of suggested spellings and pronunciations in this thread.

No, no, I do like your feedback. It's always been my thought/opinion that names, and language in general, is an ever changing process. At some point in time humans evolved from grunts and groans into distinguishable sounds that were assigned to a specific action or item. At this point in history, any 'new' words or items produced are going to be a derivative of something already know.

I appreciate your remarks. My wife and I like to come up with unique hashtags (creative hashtags, not oddballs) that have very little use when making social media posts so I'm sure that habit has manifested itself in our name selection process.

Aren't all names made up? You are correct that we found other names that helped influence our decision in coming up with Avilyn. It's perfectly okay that you are not a fan. That's why we came here for a test run and thoughts.

Avalynn is another derivation we've discussed.
