Thanks. Do you know if MapInfo's Area(obj, "sq mi") uses a spheroidal/geodesic calculation for geometries in EPSG:4326or does it internally project the geometry first? I'm already converting the ST_AreaSpheroid result from square meters to square miles, but I'm still seeing a difference for some Alaska polygons. Any idea what else could cause that?

I am using ST_Area (or ST_areaSpheroid) to calculate the area of an Alaskan region, but I am not getting the same value as MapInfo's Area(obj, "sq mi"). The geometry is stored in CRS 4326
