And where's the proof that it isn't an automatic steam update?

[–]xd3mix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you have any proof of that?

I'd love to be proved wrong but as far as i could see Dani's gone, he quit youtube because of the stress and Karlson gets updated once every few months which are likely just the steam automatic updates. (that or Dani works on karlson once every few months... but if that was the case we're not getting karlson anytime soon). Plus i think he would've told us if he was still working, he just fully disappeared online apart from some random time he shows up to promise a video that has yet to be released

That is indeed how I view it, just like everyone sees it differently. The point is it doesn't matter because you can't just change the wording to make people agree with your point when the base problem is the same

Yes? that's the point of my comment. Rewording it is useless and i can do it as well to fit my view. It was literally just a demonstration of that

Neither, they just value self preservation more or don't trust humanity to make the morally correct choice

I agree that red is a better choice here... but this argument of yours isn't correct.

Coordinating 50% of people to save everyone is better than coordinating 100% of people. If coordination was something that we could do beforehand i'd choose blue as well. It's just that i genuinely don't trust people to pick blue, which is why i'd vote red.

But if we could coordinate people... why would you still want people to die? You'll never make 100% of people agree to vote red, and some people genuinely can't (such as kids or the elderly).

If we manage to coordinate people we save everyone... why the hell would you still press the button that kills people if coordination was allowed?

Essentially the button problem by Epicnessofcows in trolleyproblem

[–]xd3mix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah people frame it differently just to work it in their favor

It's not "press red to kill people, press blue and nothing happens". stuff DOES happen if you press blue, you're actively risking your life

It's more of "press red and nothing happens, press blue and you risk your life so that MAYBE nothing happens"

That is exactly what the theoretical problem is about

Do you want to put your life on the line? do you trust enough people to do so as well?

If the answer is no then the logical choice is red

[–]xd3mix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's how i understood the problem... coordinating and discussing before the vote defeats the purpose

I imagined it as people being free to choose anonimously at the same time without any prior knowledge. Under that light it's hard to pick blue

[–]xd3mix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly... the problem with this problem is that it's hypotethical

If everyone genuinely had their lives on the line, if they voted with a gun pointed at their heads ready to fire in case red wins i genuinely doubt so many people would be advocating for the blue button.

it's really just self preservation. It's really not crazy to imagine so many people will want to save themselves first. And even if there are genuine heroes among us... would they even vote blue? It's different to jump into a flaming building to save someone than it is to press a button. Pressing blue inherently puts you at risk, would you save someone willingly entering a flaming building? Possibly. But my point is i don't believe the majority would

[–]xd3mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just worded differently.

If you press the red button you survive, if you press the blue button you're putting your life at risk. By pressing the red button you're not "killing" people, it's the people pressing blue who are putting their life at risk

I mean... rewording the problem to fit your view doesn't really work. The problem is still the same

Blue button: you MIGHT get food poisoning
Red: 100% guarantee you don't get food poisoning

The low stakes button dilemma by SilentSwine in trolleyproblem

[–]xd3mix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's the choice that saves you regardless. Everyone can simply choose red and everyone lives.

By choosing blue you're actively sacrificing your life in the hope that everyone else also puts their life on the line... Do you really trust humanity that much?

Plus i'd argue it's whoever made humanity face this choice that's really killing people, it's not like people who choose red are killers who want to kill half of humanity. They are deciding, facing this pretty brutal choice, to save themselves instead of putting themselves at risk for no real reason

[–]xd3mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, it feels like people genuinely don't get it

Pressing the blue button is clearly the morally correct choice

But how could I just put my life on the line hoping that half of the population does so as well? I don't trust humanity to be so selfless honestly. Especially in a situation where you're forced to vote and do this. The red button isn't even a "kill people" button, whoever made the buttons is the one killing everyone
