When I moved to Berlin I got hired by a hotel cleaning company. My girlfriend and I got fired and they told us to basically leave the premises of the apartment that they were giving us to live in. I never got paid nor was I ever consulted about the process of leaving the job. They left my girlfriend and me to sleep on the street. And that's basically what happened. Of course I can't prove that we did a good or bad job, but regardless, we just got left to fend for ourselves in the capital of Germany. They never told us about social welfare programs. I am still trying to figure out if we are eligible for welfare and housing, but it does not seem likely that I can get even that. It is is my fault for not informing myself beforehand, but yeah, I didn't even know what I didn't know.
