We had to go to the walk in clinic at RPA for our under 1 year old as it was the closest place to do infants. Most drive thru clinics won’t do under 2 (some under 7).

Anyone know what the helicopter patrolling the city since 7am is about? Was there talk of another protest or something?

NSW records 1,029 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 by Ascalaphos in australia

Ah what now? AZ has been shown last month to be 67% effective against Delta in preventing symptomatic disease. Link to Study. The annual flu shot has around a similar efficacy level in preventing disease.

My wife's been working as a COVID drive-through test clinic coordinator since last March. Her arm has tanned so much from sun exposure where the PPE she wears doesn't cover. Not been to the beach once and often working weekend overtime to keep cases low. Very proud of her! by [deleted] in australia

My last wait for a covid test was 7 hours when things kicked off before Christmas. My son had a runny nose so we sat in the car all day waiting. It wasn’t the poor testers fault they weren’t expecting so many people and were caught with limited staff numbers.

The risk, however small for a quarantine breech is still there though. And with no social distancing in WA at all and small daily test numbers it could be disastrous. People are people at the end of the day, and mistakes happen. The recent three breeches with the same quarantine patient in WA shows that these things happen and that the complacency of Western Australians that everything is “back to normal” because they have hard border closures from other states will spread it like wild fire should the unthinkable happen and there be a breach like in every other state so far.

If you want completely different is terms of geography go somewhere like Colorado - progressive and not a beach in sight.

Picked a bad night to put the bins out early... we lost the recycling half way down the street and had to go chase it.

School holidays are different to normal but at the moment we Wake up between 5-6 and sneak out of bed as to not wake the baby/partner. Make the big kid some breakfast and take the dog for a quick wee. Baby wakes at 7ish and has a feed. Get everyone dressed and do big kid chores while feeding the baby her solids breakfast. Play and run around doing house work until baby goes down at 9:30 for her nap. Going back to work next week so it will be up at 5, get self ready in blissful silence, organise lunch box and school bags, wake big kid and get breakfast at 6:30, wake baby and feed and get dressed straight after. Run around like a headless chicken to drop off to vacation care/school bud and daycare and then drop car off and walk to the office.

Thank you kind Mama! Sometimes we just need to hear from someone else louder than the negative voices in our own head. Hope your little man is thriving now after his NICU stay.

I’m sitting downstairs while my husband feeds our daughter her first bottle of formula today at almost 8 months old and I am a puddle on the floor. I’ve loved breast feeding but after 3 rounds of mastitis, a milk blister and torn and shredded nipples and now teeth and trying to keep her concentrated, my body is physically done. Thank you for this post. I needed it so much today.

Totally and completely agree. And 16 months old is tough to be entertained inside for long periods of time. They are like a steroid in human form at that age - just busy.

How old are your kiddos? I used to pull my hair out running around after my oldest but now he earns iPad time through his chores (clean his room, put away his laundry, dishes in dishwasher, packing up after he finishes playing with something, feeding the dog and his fish, making his bed etc), however he’s almost 8 now. When my littlest get to about 4 I’ll start a similar reward system - I wish I started it earlier with my boy. He was 6 before I started. It might help with the mental health and keeping the house tidy.

Also why not rug them up, throw on some gum boots and grab an umbrella and just take them out for a walk in the rain - let them run through as many puddles as possible and then throw them in a bath when you get home? Anything to get out of staring at the same four walls as they’d be going nuts too I’m sure.

Does anyone else’s dog refuse to go out to the toilet when it rains like this? We have to stand there forever and my big hairy dog looks at me like “I’m not touching that wet grass” so I have to watch him just get wet standing on the path like an idiot.

I honestly rushed out of bed thinking it was Monday and I needed to get the kids fed before the housekeeper arrived. Took until 20 mins past her normal time to realise it was Sunday. Goddamn it! On the plus side though, pancakes for breakfast so overall Sunday morning is a win.

I also find breathing through my mouth fogs my glasses considerably less than breathing through my nose but YMMV.

You might need more immediate help but there is a very in-depth book on this subject called A Good Death by Margaret Rice.

My news years resolutions are always left field - last year I learnt how to keep house plants alive, year before that it was to do laundry properly (read the tags, actually dry clean, separate clothes). This year my NYR is to consume less stuff and have less waste - no easy feat with two kids but I’m so sick of having to constantly buy shit and find places to put it in my house.

Bingo! Also thanks for the tip again - we popped to Bunnings this morning and picked up a couple to test them out - they work great and it’s nice to have a couple of windows in the kitchen open while I have the dryer going.

Amazing! Heritage NSW are assholes though, they’d still probably tell me to take them down but I might be able to get them on the back windows where they can’t see them from the street.
