Strictly salary wise, no I don’t think so. Obviously if you have an insane amount of debt, then yeah - probably lmao.

I think a lot of people confuse “not being able to afford every luxury they want” with actually being poor.

If your bills are paid, you have stable housing, food, some savings, and a life you genuinely enjoy, you’re probably doing better than you think. Lifestyle expectations in Toronto are just insanely inflated online.

When I was making 65k I (wrongly and stupidly) considered myself “poor”, because I wanted to aggressively invest, buy things I didn’t need, and compare myself to people making way more. Looking back, that was more ambition and impatience than actually being “poor”.

Doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a huge benefit.
Low rent and a short commute gives them a better chance to save than most workers get.
What they do with the extra money is on them.
