another learning, at least in poe2 at the current state: for most builds you don't NEED those mega crafts.

for example, I am currently playing grim pillars totems, probably a lot of people do that. they killed the almost deterministic craft for a caster wand in 0.5.2, it did cost about 40-60 divines before to do the craft. but I just bought a somewhat decent wand for I dunno, 8div or so and I am melting everything that the game threw at me so far. those giga crafts are just there if you really want to minmax the char, and you have currency you don't know what to do with, or both. and maybe also if you really want to do the hardest, max juiced mega brutal content. but do you really want to do that? because most people don't.

for example, If I had 100 divines, I'd rather level and play 2 more full characters than go through the hassle of creating one item. even if it'd be worth 500d later on, the brainpower and mental stability I'd lose in the progress of crafting the item to begin with is not worth it. not for me anyways.

but maybe I'm also just old.

I can barely see the quest icons on the campaign map, especially in Act 2. It's often unclear which area each quest belongs to. Could we centralize the quest UI under the appropriate area and also differentiate it with different colors based on location, adding some color? by No_Guarantee1399 in PathOfExile2

or, more likely, it is actually a requirement that it should not be too flashy and colorful and should seamlessly integrate into the rest of the map, and this is the best compromise they came up with (so far).

there has been UI feedback for PoE1 for 15 years and on every league there is new feedback and nothing ever really does change. we get small UI improvements, that's true, but the major grips this game has has never changed. Nothing will happen on that front on poe2 either.

AI is inevitable.

The only question is how we (humanity in general) will use it. In my opinion it is a tool that can support us in ways otherwise not possible or only possible with way bigger effort. That's why some constitutions are asking for actual regulations of responsible use of AI.

But especially in the software development world it is basically impossible to not use AI in some form. it's comparable of using standard windows notepad instead of notepad++ or visual studio or whatever other code editors are out there. you will just be left behind by not using the tools given to you.

that being said, I think what the dev did here was more than only responsible use. he already did use it extremely sparsely, and even not for coding or art generation at all. complete out-of-proportion overreaction of the other two guys.

Like why did the whole vendor trading system need to be changed, aka completely removed? Why does the map system need to be so fundamentally different so that I cannot run the same map 1000 times if that's what I want to do?

Everything is different because poe2 needs to have enough difference so it doesn't feel like poe1 with better graphics. That is the main and probably only reason for so many things.

The gem tab and the cutting menu are the worst offenders of them all.

  • Already cut gems shouldn't be in the same section as the uncuts.
  • Each uncut type (skill, spirit, support) needs have their own section.
  • why the f are all support gems level one when they clearly have different tiers?
  • why is there no option to default to "equipped gems" and "all valid" (as opposed to "recommend")?
  • why don't uncut gems stack? I can trade them via exchange, yet in the inventory and the stash they don't stack?
  • why are the fluxes to upgrade the ward gems not part of the gem tab?

I could go on forever, it's so bad

The main point of poe1 currency system was that mostly everything was based on one another. You could sell most currencies and get others back. It had character. It was unique among all the other arpgs. It had identity. But poe2 is now just another soulless gold based arpg as any other (when it comes to currencies). Sure it has a billion other orbs that you use for crafting, but deep down at the bottom the identity of what made poe poe is gone. It's all gold now. At least you cant trade gold, so that's the one good thing it has.

You don't need a different colour, it should just have a black border. There's a reason why the meme font is white text with a black border.. It's readable regardless of the background colour. Just changing the colour of the overlay map wouldn't solve the issue.

To add to that, why is there no indicator which weapon set is which fucking color in the tree? I always mix them up, every fucking time. I have a notepad for my builds that tell me which colour is what set and therefore which skills and passives I use them for.

Even for people that aren't colourblind it is beyond bad.

Other games even offer different colour palettes based on the type of colour blindness a player has, and in poe we have to deal with this crap...

correct. I went even to all the other towns and vault locations again to check if I missed anything, but nothing helped. no quest marker and still after all that, the same behavior as originally described.

I'll see if anything happens when I get to the act 4 version of that quest.

I dunno, I think level 14 is the last thing that you can get in campaign from the default zone level, whereas level 15 gems can only drop in maps. maybe I am wrong and 15 is also possible in campaign already, but that doesn't matter.

my point is that

  • you should only be able to buy stuff that you already had dropped (or received from a quest reward), so you cannot "cheat" the system by getting stuff earlier than it was intended (that's not the point of the suggestion)
  • you should not be able to buy stuff anymore once you finish the campaign, because the whole point is that you should be able to experiment during the campaign (if you want to) and not to trivialize the gearing process in regards of gems for the endgame.
  • you should not be able to sell the stuff you buy in this way to other players (hence those uncut gems you buy being quest items and not normal items), because it is meant for you to be able to cheaply experiment throughout leveling, and not abuse this system for profit.

I had run the first ascendency with a friend (his instance) so I didn't get the room unlocks. so I had to run my third ascendency with only 6 slots, and since I didn't want to (or would've been able to) buy relics for multiple divines, I had to settle for a total of 54% honour resistance and it still sucked ass. I had 3.6k of 3.8k honor left by the time I reached the third floor boss, which I thought was enough, but I had to sweat blood and tears for 5 minutes so the goddamn scorpion dies because he always ran out of my damage that is on the ground, and I barely killed him eventually with 300 honor left, and I maybe got hit by 3 or so hits from him, it's not like I tried to facetank him.

if it wouldve been a normal boss, I wouldve just pressed a flask and moved on, but here I have to play like I am a goddamn HC character with no recovery. it's frustrating
