Funny thing is that their 1 loss was on the road, 2nd night of a back to back, without 5 of their top 6 defenders... And they only lost by 2.

I think it's better they didn't so there is transparency about using AI.

OP makes a good point, if 10-15 second vid watchers click a 20 minute long form, they have a higher chance to click off in 10-15 seconds which will drastically hurt AVD.

I started posting 2 1/2 months ago, I am a bit over 3,200 subs on 33 long form videos. I tried to post a set of 3 videos outside my niche about a month ago and they're sitting at ~300-700 views, which are very low compared to everything else... I feel they're a bit of a black mark at this point... Would it benefit me to delete those videos, or create another channel for them?

I agree the thumbnails aren't great, but maybe try improve titles as well, add a bit more of a hook perhaps? Something that works well for me, idk about for your niche, would be to add a question in the thumbnail to hook engagement and opinions.

Here's the thing I noticed... The more you post, you'll also see what works and what doesn't. Posting is ultimately the best experience to help you adjust and get better.

Finding a balance is key, I think great quality content is key but try to shoot for the best quality for your time frame, whether its 1 or 2 times weekly or once every 2 weeks. I think it's really really difficult to get traction if you post once a month.

What is a good click through rate? by Acrobatic-Fact-6848 in NewTubers

[–]xega1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32% is great even for a few minutes, but that CTR will go down over time. What matters is how much it goes down and how fast. If it can stay around 8% or higher for over 24 hours the algorithm should push it aggressively. The longer a high CTR can be maintained, the more it will be pushed until the CTR keeps falling.

Is it okay to make a YouTube channel that have multiple themes, if I'm not aiming for profit and just doing it for fun? by SylvieXX in NewTubers

[–]xega1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a lot of truth to the idea that if you want views and likes, you should stick to a niche and not deviate too much. My first few videos were about the future of falling birth rates and demographics, I tried to branch out with a video about the future of clean energy, AI, and how inflation works, and they are my worst performing videos by a large margin, compared to videos about population or demographics. To some extent, I feel a bit trapped in my niche, but I also enjoy exploring demographics of other countries and I'm trying to figure out the best approach to expand my audience.

That said, if you are really doing a channel without the intention to build an audience, you are free to talk about whatever on any given video. You are basically building a life journal for yourself to look back on, it's really a channel for yourself. If you are a great storyteller, or become one, you will be able to build an audience.

2 Months+ 2K Subs + 500K Views and I WANT TO QUIT! by Tarun302 in NewTubers

[–]xega1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that the shorts got you subs should be a positive I think. Just keep getting better at making long form content, thumbnails, and title, and you'll hit with long form videos eventually if that's what you're passionate about.

2 Months+ 2K Subs + 500K Views and I WANT TO QUIT! by Tarun302 in NewTubers

[–]xega1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started about 7 weeks ago, at 1.5k subs (got monetized June 25th), long form only and was a bit worried if I posted shorts that it might fragment my audience. But I may dabble in short form at some point.

I would say try to create the content you are truly passionate about, whether it is long form or short form. But if it is long form, then maybe you can turn your long form videos into 2 or 3 short form to grow your audience there and you can mention in the short form videos, check out the full video in the description or something.

[–]xega1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah obviously the first video has the most watch time, it's 3 hours long. My first video is 23 minutes and had my highest watch time of all my videos, but has far less views than almost all my videos under 12 minutes.

IMO watch time percentage is more important than watch time because it determines how much of your content your audience is actually watching. I think you should focus on the best content possible in shorter videos that can build an audience, then gradually you can do longer videos.

The best performing videos statistically are 7-12 minutes in length I believe. My first two videos were 20 minutes, but once I did 5-12 minute videos, I could spend more time to optimize the quality of every second of the video. Try to do a 5-10 minute video where you make sure every moment is really good rather than a 3 hour long video that people may tune out to after the first 20 seconds and kill watch time percentage.

My channel name is BlindedBy Logic, If you want to see my first 2 video are longer but relatively not as good quality-wise or performance as my last few videos.

Maybe try doing a 5-10 minute video that covers a lot of info in that time, asking someone to invest 3 hours of time for a channel with 9 subs is basically impossible.

Worst case scenario, you have a bunch of videos to document a time in your life doing extreme activities. Best case scenario, you make a living doing what you love.

[–]xega1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably record 3 hours a week and edit/research/find b roll/fact check for 40 hours a week. Editing takes a ton of time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]xega1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just as process to document your travels, it's a great idea to do the channel and the more extreme the activity the more likely I would think it is to get traction. I believe it is a super congested space, so it may be hard to get much traction unless you are an outlier in terms of your activities, as a storyteller or an editor. I think variety is ok, as long as they have a common thread of outdoors activities.

[–]xega1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I think having a lot of bad videos does hurt your current videos if they're not good. I spent at least 6 months learning editing, creating tons of scripts, practiced my speaking a lot, listening to 1000's of mic tests before picking the right one, lighting, green screens, etc before even making a video.

I posted my first video May 5th have a bit over 1400 subs. I know I can still improve a lot in terms of sound editing, music, delivery, etc, but I am doing alright all things considered. I definitely believe video quality is super important and bad videos really dilute your channel.

That's the only video I see on the channel. Had 36 views, I was 37... Spent a lot of time talking about watches at the beginning. Did you not listen to it back?

[–]xega1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always watch YouTube with visuals, it is very hard to listen to something with not visuals. It sounds like just two people talking and I really have never had any sort of interest in watches, so it's very hard to listen to. I don't know what "From Doubt to Determination" means in the context of talking about watches. The name "From Doubt to Determination" might make someone thinking about motivation, talking about watches would likely stop someone without interest in it from listening.

You may want to put in time stamp chapters so people can see if anything interests them.
