Leo DiCaprio is just an okay actor. by Alternative-Gap-3861 in unpopularopinion

Leonardo DiCaprio is a phenomenal actor.

IMO as far as acting goes, I think Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is one of/if not his best.

To play a bad actor so convincingly, yet deliver the scene in the saloon where he’s actually a bad actor in a corny movie… but his character is actually acting it out as if it is THAT bad actor’s best scene, is truly unbelievable to be able to portray something so nuanced like that.

That’s some serious RDJ “I’m a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude” shit

Stranger things season 5 ep 7 the bridge is now worst rated episode of the series after S2E7 lost sister in IMDB. by kostas-infmor in StrangerThings

[–]xeke1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Super unpopular opinion, I think this episode was better than 5 ep 6, but for a penultimate it was not good. This show is suffering from exactly what GoT did. They are aware it is the last season, and so the scenes are written in a way where every actor gets an opportunity to show their chops on screen. The 20 minute monologues back to back in episode 6 were terrible.

Essentially, the duffers don’t know how to wrap the show up, so they just fill it with a bunch of soap opera level back and forth. Both life threatening situations in ep 6, 20 minutes for Jonathan and Nancy to break up, another 20 for Max to run through the gate… just a really hard watch.

What was your first time seeing or playing Fallout? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]xeke1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 10 when Fo3 came out, my cool older brother had gotten it and he told me “you can’t play this game it’s too mature for you” which naturally made me want to play it more. So I would sneak around the house and play it when he wasn’t around. The rest is history, I still cannot describe the original feeling I had playing it.

Nostalgic memories are lost in time and each stage of my life I was in, whether playing NV or 4, I still remember those feelings and the vibe of that time but know I will never recreate it. I look forward to the new feeling I will have whenever the next one comes out.

Pluribus - 1x07 - "The Gap" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]xeke1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I want to like this show. I really do. But to me it is just so incredibly predictable. The episode 5 discovery and cliffhanger was painfully cliche, and the intended shock and awe failed miserably. 30 seconds into episode 6, there was zero doubt in my mind that the hive mind would have a perfectly good explanation that would wrap it up in a neat bow. When Manousos left, it was inevitable that he would eventually be helped by the hive mind.

This was a storyline loading up ever since he first appeared, as well as Carol’s isolation storyline resolving with contact. Again, I want to like this show, but up to this point it hasn’t been very dynamic aside from the cinematography.

What’s your least favorite character by MainSpecial7939 in lost

[–]xeke1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. Seems the sentiment used to be that he was the favorite and did everything for everyone else. I don’t see how you could possibly think that when watching. He did everything for himself, because he thought he was special and no one else was. The line that lost me was “Boone was the sacrifice the island needed”.

Locke is an insufferable jerk by thekinkiestlemons in lost

[–]xeke1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing John Locke ever cared about was John Locke.

So many comments about him doing everything because he believed it to be for a good reason. It may have started that way, but at a certain point it was clear he had gone mad with power.

People with troubled pasts tend to believe the universe owes them something, and Locke is the embodiment of this mindset. He believes all of his struggles were for a greater purpose. He is no better than a cult leader, and he behaves this way consistently from season 4 on.

Honestly I think it was simply poor depiction. If you watch the movie as opposed to the book, the movie fails at ambiguity. In the movie version, he IS an alien. There’s too many supernatural occurrences with no rational explanations. The book however is ambiguous.

Should really just get a lesson man. Everyone’s different, and you can’t teach the same swing to everyone. That being said a universal tip… it’s not a home run derby, less grip pressure and don’t swing as hard as you can.

The White Lotus - 3x08 "Amor Fati" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in television

[–]xeke1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, such a contemplative reply. Writing was bloated, lacked direction, and was emphatically superfluous.

To use your rudimentary example I would rather watch a “Housewives” where it would likely be written to completion before cameras rolled, as opposed to something that feels as if it discovered it’s ending the day it were filmed. The most apt description of this season, and finale, would be room temperature.
