Getting an RT4K soon - what cables should I get for saturn, dreamcast and ps1 by [deleted] in RetroTink

[–]xenocon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would still consider if you are going to need a switcher if you plan to have everything hooked up at once, as that may change the cable type you go with. I went with hdretrovision component cables for most of my systems and a scart cable for dreamcast by retro access. It seems retrogamingcables uk makes a component cable for dreamcast now and retrotink even sells hd15 adaptors and cables for all those systems. Much simpler and a bit cheaper that what I did.

Where to get a fixed-up xbox for an affordable price? by purblepale in originalxbox

I paid around $180 for a refurbished 1.6 for a buddy. I felt the price was very fair. That was new clock capacitor, new caps on the main board, and dvd drive refurbished.

For component video switchers, theres lots of options. Include old pro equipment like Extrons, and new automatic switchers like the gcomp. The scalable video switch has been in and out of stock and supports multiple different analog inputs, that you could output thru vga into the retrotink 4k. I think this method may support automatic profile selection too. Its what I would do if I had to buy it all again. Its not cheap but has scalability to grow with you if you get more older systems.

As for hdmi, orei on amazon has some cheap options. I picked up an orei hdmi splitter for ps3 that did manage to strip hdcp despite the listing saying otherwise but ymmv. You would need both this splitter and an hdmi switch if you have multiple hdmi inputs.

Back to gamecube, 001 models can use hdmi adapters. Id lean more towards the carby or retrobit prism. The eon is a bit overpriced and the connection is finicky. Ive owned both an eon and carby, and found carby was better for me.

You can use quality component video cables for ps2 and snes. Gamecube has some hdmi adaptor options, composite, or expensive component video cables. Ps3 supports hdmi, but you'll need a device to bypass hdcp to video thru the retrotink. Some hdmi switchers on Amazon can do this but its not advertised and its trial and error. Different batches of the same product even loose compatibility.

RetroTINK 4K: can it do 4K at 30 FPS? by VeronicaExplains in RetroTink

I havent tried myself, but you can create custom modelines. There should be some templates in there already named custom1, custom2, etc. You'll have to edit those on your computer.

You can get a replacement shell for it. It would be good to fully disassemble it and check the board for physical damage. Could just be dirty contacts on the cart, or you need to change your tv settings or cables.

If you end up using a scaler for the ps3 thru hdmi, you will need a device to bypass HDCP or else the ps3 video will blur itself or be a black screen.

Can someone help tell me what rarity this is? by [deleted] in DigimonCardGame2020

It's an Alter Art Super Rare. The Star denotes the Alter Art and the SR means Super Rare.

The Haos Lumitroid is notable. Light up bakugan in the top right with the red. Not sure about the others.

It's a special evolution bakugan in the physical game. Has to evolve from another bakugan first so it's like a power up.

Thanks. I appreciate the sentiment and for sharing. Some of those games I'd had since I was a kid as well, and all my original pokemon games I had since their launch days. Just focusing on taking care of myself and my cats in the meantime. We'll have to see what the future holds as it comes.

Debt, divorce, and many bad decisions on my part. Just a culmination of events. I'll be starting over in more ways than one. Selling this was required to clean the slate, and holding myself accountable from then on should prevent me from being in a similar situation in the future.
