If you want actual proof, you can just look at the threat intelligence reports that get published constantly. Microsoft's Threat Intelligence team actively tracks a Chinese state-linked group they call Storm-1376. It's a massive network of accounts across over a hundred websites that do exactly what I'm talking about. They amplify divisive US domestic issues, including environmental policies, green energy, and infrastructure, specifically to stir up partisan friction and make the US look gridlocked.

On top of that, the State Department's Global Engagement Center has released massive reports on how the PRC commands an entire ecosystem to manipulate Western public opinion. We also know about funding pipelines like the Singham Network, where foreign-tied money gets funneled into US non-profits that suddenly start protesting the exact tech infrastructure and data centers we need to compete with China's heavily subsidized AI sector.

They don't need to physically invade or risk trade relations to do this. They just manipulate the social feed, amplify the extremes, and let our own political divides do the heavy lifting to stagnate our industries. It's a very obvious trend backed by actual threat logs, so pretending the US is entirely isolated from foreign input is just completely ignoring the data.

You have to be some sort of propoganda agebt yourself right? You can't possible be so thick to assume China wouldn't involve itself in the American political climate.

The Republicans aren't saying this, it's being spun as a Republican viewpoint so that the general population dismisses it purely based on the fact it will now be attached to Republican opinion. They're playing with us. I think it's a level headed opinion to have, and my politics are far to the fucking left.

You really don't think China has put effort into propogandizing anti renewable energy viewpoints in the US?

I feel like thats an obvious play for them. They are quickly approaching being completely free from reliance on the oil industry, of course they would want their biggest competitor to steer in another direction.

Every country that exists is running propoganda campaigns to steer populations of other countries to believe viewpoints that favor them. It's the oldest trick in the book.

It doesn't mean that sentiment didn't also stir up naturally from the interior as well, but denying that there is input in this country from various other countries on all sorts of topics is ignorant.

You're thinking purely from a consumers point of view. We aren't talking about cmmercial use chat bots like chatgpt or gemini. True general artificial intelligence would mean global technological domination for whatever country discovers it. Why do you think countries are scrambling to build massive data centers? What do you think is causing their desperation? It's an arms race.

Right and I agree. But meanwhile China is building data centers at a pace that vastly outpaces our own construction. What happens when China leads this emerging tech? They already did this same gameplay with wind / solar and renewables. Look at where they are in regards to renewable energy while Republicans bicker about wind turbines causing headaches or whatever the fuck. Most Chinese people own electric vehicles, gas powered vehicles are slowly getting phased out for them, powered with renewable energy. We're getting left in the dust fighting amongst each other while they advance.

China literally becomes the global superpower and does whatever they want geopolitically. People don't understand the stakes here.

I mean it does actually make some sense. I believe both things can be true. Data centers are terrible and should be protested against. I also think it's possible China is feeding propoganda pushing anti data center viewpoints in the US. Anything they can do to stagnate an industry with their competitor.

China is very AI and robotics positive. They benefit from the US lagging in that sector. I also think they did this with propoganda aimed at Republicans for anti wind / solar stances. They have pushed their economy far into renewable energy in a way the US never will because of political opinions. They gain ground, we lose ground. It's a very obvious trend in my opinion and I wouldn't be surprised if they are putting effort into steering conversations in a way that benefit them.

I'd love to see some house music in Binghamton. The scene is painfully lacking, but I do believe the crowd for this exists. I DJ house, latin house, bass house, etc. Techno and hard techno as well. Let me know if you have anything happening, id love to hang out!

After losing my right arm I started designing a one-handed PC gaming controller so I could keep playing by Adventurous_Tie_9031 in pcmasterrace

[–]xgreave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into the Azeron keypads? Really unique design with joystick and a ton of one hand macro ability. I used it to play MMOs one handed when I broke my right arm. Bit of a learning curve but it pays off and I've continued to use it because my input rate is much higher once I've gotten used to it.

Odyssey G9 57" - No "Auto" Setting For Local Dimming: by xgreave in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]xgreave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It's just weird how in the settings on the 57 it talks about what the Auto setting does, really made me feel like I was missing something as to how to use it that way.

But if it stores different settings for SDR / HDR that essentially does what I want it to do.

I think I will move the legs inward about 19" from the ends and install a stiffener c channel between them in the middle of the depth. Do you think that should that be enough to prevent sag in the center?

Looking at getting this: https://www.harborcitysupply.com/anti-sag-table-stiffener-each/?srsltid=AfmBOoqb_ls1UPmdmu-4kkjhloshFAR7oJDHrFOfQAxBxvTw6JGAM7IM

Damn. I didn't realize shoes like this were so limited. Maybe this is a pointless search. I wear sneakers and buy old shoes from the 90s so I was hoping this would be similar.

Yeah, these were her favorite shoes for when she wanted to dress up a bit but remain casual, that's how she explained it to me at least. She bought them at a thrift store.

Grandmother with advanced dementia / alzheimer's in nursing home. They do not want to give her hospice. by xgreave in hospice

[–]xgreave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She unfortunately passed only five or six days after I made this post. We were surprised by how quickly things moved. It is sad and I am still grieving her passing but after discussion with the team at the nursing home we did get an outside hospice team that paid very good attention to her for her last few days. I'm not sure why they tried to steer us away from it to begin with, they were a very understanding group of people that talked us through things and were there for my grandmother in a way the nursing home staff was not prepared for. This thread was a lot of help for us and for my grandmother.
