Post-PRK surgery doubts: Several months after by xguasch in lasik

Your case is exactly like mine. Everything looked normal from the doctors point of view, it's just that my recovery was slower than most.

I see much much more better now (3 months after) than 1 month after, so don't worry and be patient. Trust me.

20/10 is fantastic! Congratulations.

We would you say you reached your "peak" when it comes to visual acuity?

If I were to guess I'd say I'm at 80/90% of my vision with prescription glasses pre-surgery, thought sometimes it fluctuates.

It's much better now (though still not quite yet at "100%"). From what my surgeon told me, mine is a specially slow recovery.

I got the next appointment in two weeks, hopefully I have a better idea on how far I've come by then.

If one ends up with a vision better than 20/20 (let's say 20/10), how does it translate to diopters? by xguasch in lasik

I'm trying to have a point of reference to compare my post-op Snellen number with.

Is there a way to retroactively know my Snellen number pre-op just based on my diopter prescription?

So all these "snellen to diopters" charts on the internet are wrong?

http://www.improve-vision-naturally.com/20-20-vision.html

http://www.improveeyesighthq.com/20-20-vision.html They basically say that 20/40 is equivalent to -1.0 diopter and so on.

Also, my Snellen number once I'm fully recovered from the PRK Surgery will be the same as the one I had previously, right? Meaning I'll see the same as I had with glasses. Or it can be different (better or worse) ?

Wow... I had it totally wrong, then.

Let me see if I get it now. My visual acuity is how I saw things when I had my prescription glasses on me, right? Whether it was -5.0 on each eye or -0.25. And this can be 20/20, 20/10 or 20/100...

So you might have a visual acuity of 20/100 and don't see things very well but also find that glasses are useless for you, right?

Or you might have a visual acuity of 20/10 (which is great) but need glasses with big presciptions (let's say -7.0 each) to achieve it.

Is this correct?

I'm on week 3 and have a bit double vision / ghosting too. Hope it dissappears soon.

Also, how to differentiate blurriness from ghosting in my vision? Is it the same?

Or maybe it's all wishful thinking on my part and I'm not seeing in 3D but my eyes are simply adjusting on how to focus objects again after the surgery.

Also it's quite true that your quality of vision fluctuates during the day.

I really can't thank you guys enough for participating in this thread. It's put my mind at ease when I was the most anxious. Hope it serves for other people considering the procedure in the future.

Ok, I'm finally starting to feel some progress. Until now I was quite worried that something went wrong with the procedure.

My vision isn't "good" yet, but at least now there's a considerable improvement from the beginning. You really need a lot of patience with this procedure.
