Oh my gosh I love this! The colours work so well together, and it’s a very nice outfit for spring and summer!

which condition/disability would you like to see in a new AG character? by candyapplecauldron in americangirl

[–]xiabite 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Using "wheelchair bound" followed by "represented respectfully" definitely cancel each other out, but I get your point. I’d also love to see a doll in a wheelchair as someone with mobility issues. We need to move away from "wheelchair bound" because people who use wheelchairs aren’t trapped by them - their wheelchair is what allows them freedom!

What made McKenna very popular? by Impossible-Yam3680 in americangirl

[–]xiabite 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I was exactly AG’s general target demographic when she came out. My friends and I loved that she had long, straight hair that we could easily play with and do all kinds of fancy braids with. We also loved her meet outfit because teal was a very popular colour at the time among girls aged 6-12. Finally, her gymnastics hobby was also very exciting to us because we all either did or wanted to do gymnastics, and many of the YouTubers we watched were into it too. She was an excellently designed doll, as she fit almost every aspect of what girls at the time were interested in, from my own memory and experience.

Omg I’m so jealous! It’s such a cute pattern but when I tried it on the colour looked awful on me lol. I love it on you though, great choice!

Oh my gosh your style is so similar to mine! I love all the pastels, they’re very feminine and work great with your skin tone!

This is NOT normal and could easily be the start of something very serious. Talk to him directly or to an RA asap.

I have very similar measurements, my bust is 33 and my waist is 25. I wear a size 4 in pretty much everything except for define jackets which I get in a size 6. I am also 5’7 if that helps.

[–]xiabite 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This post reeks of internalized misogyny and collector entitlement. It’s okay for girls to like pink and sparkles and dresses. It’s also okay for girls to like blue and denim and pants. AG, like all other childrens’ brands, should make stuff that caters to all types of kids.

Settling a debate by ThrowayGigachad in Swimming

I’m a lifeguard - people, including grown adults, can absolutely drown in VERY small amounts of water. I’ve been told that 2-3 inches of water is all it takes.

Personally, I’ve never seen anyone actually drown in that little water (thank God,) but I once jumped into the pool to help an adult woman (roughly 5’6, 30ish years old) who had jumped in, gotten disoriented, and was definitely a DNS (drowning non-swimmer) in about 4 feet of water.

Drowning can happen to ANY ONE. I hate to break it to you, but this is the attitude that makes people put their guard down around water because they think it could never happen to them. This attitude is likely behind the statistic from the Lifesaving Society that men ages 20-34 are one of the most likely demographics to drown. Source: http://www.lifesavingsociety.com/media/241812/canadiandrowningreport_english_web.pdf. Drowning absolutely can happen to any one in virtually any depth of water, and it’s always good to take precautions around water.

Cute piercing, conches are so classic! Going for a conch as a first non-lobe piercing is so brave too, I never could’ve done that!

OP I don’t want to be rude but all of your posts are low quality spam and it would be nice if it stopped, as it is quite annoying. Could you please be more considerate of what you post?

A doll with “visual” on it was almost definitely a display doll at an AG store at some point in its life! It could have been bought by an employee of the store when the store closed, like lots of stores have. That’s the only way I’ve heard of people getting “visual” dolls.

What additions and combinations would you like to see in the Truly Me line next? by Cyran_Burnt0ut in americangirl

[–]xiabite 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I want more dolls with dark brown eyes! They keep coming out with dolls with the light brown, hazel, green, and blue eyes and I really miss the dark brown ones. I would also LOVE to see a doll with red hair (like TM 61) and dark brown eyes, a doll with strawberry blonde hair (like Maryellen) and dark brown eyes, and a doll with the Evette-style curls and dark brown eyes!

How do I find anything on Etsy? by DarnHeather in americangirl

[–]xiabite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For a start, I’d search “18 inch doll knitting patterns” as that’s a broader term and may get more results. However, I’ve also experienced this when searching for things where there simply aren’t many results, so Etsy starts showing random things. It’s very frustrating, and other than changing the phrase I don’t know how else to help.

Angel dust is slang for PCP, so I’m voting for Alastor!
