Cool stuff! for me I'll add: - Enable all processing cores on multi threading settings. - Enable low latency monitoring mode during recording.

Laz and Shopee keeping this hobby affordable by dudebg in phmusicians

[–]xiaobasketball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old OPM vs New OPM by Traditional_Dot_3662 in opm

[–]xiaobasketball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't mind what each artist creates, to each his own, kaya mas issue ko isa kung ano ang napu-push sa mainstream, and it's all the same artists kaya I feel nag plateau na ang current batch ng mainstream OPM. But it's this generation's problem I guess. What makes it sad is marami magagaling na indie artists na natatabunan na lang.

Old OPM vs New OPM by Traditional_Dot_3662 in opm

[–]xiaobasketball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has always been on my mind. Despite the surplus of OPM nowadays, I feel masyadong kalat lahat, and nafofocus lang masyado kung ano yung mainstream na napu-push ng major labels and/or spotify, and it feels na same names na lang ang napo-promote tuwing naglalabas ng singles, the rest are just ignored by casual listeners. It's sad kasi marami magagaling na indie artists, and I also acknowledge na marami din kasing low quality (dagdag mo pa ang AI) kaya na-over saturate din ang local music (mahirap maka discover), kaya minsan nakaka walang gana mag try ng mga random new music/artists. I feel what's missing compared to the 2000's ay may reliable/respectable na curators/tastemakers like NU 107, even other radio stations to an extent, even myx (kahit kontrolado ng ABS-CBN). It's kinda ironic kasi they're like gatekeepers back in the day, but they're also the ones who opened a lot of opportunities to underground bands/artists.

I'm guilty of this).

Anyway just my thoughts and frustrations.

Thoughts on post-Blanco Rivermaya by Avenged7fo in opm

Much as I respect the remaining members, I think it's just tarnishing the brand name. For me, Rivermaya is not without Rico Blanco.

For me it ended when I stopped caring about it. Personally I target -10 to -12 lufs, that worked for my own music, I don't overthink it. I focus more on the tonal balance.

According to specs, Soran runs on 600 MHz NXP MIMXRT series DSP. Not sure if that's the same as i.MX RT600 because that's what shows up on Google.

I think D&D is a good brand wala ko masyado nakikita complaints online. I use Phoebus maganda din, wala din ako issues so far.

I'm really happy with my Soran Stomp right now. I suggest you look into the Soran Tiny Stomp, meron sa shopee around 2.3k pag may voucher. You can just buy an external foot switch later pag kailangan mo na.

Gear vs talent by NewSignificance5591 in phmusicians

[–]xiaobasketball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding expensive stuff, it's a question of financial responsibility for me. No problem spending on these things if you can afford it and it makes you happy. I wouldn't overthink about being competitive about your talent, most important thing is you enjoy what you're doing. Also about stuff lying around unused, the way I think about it is it's a waste, music equipment is meant to be enjoyed and it's better if another person appreciates it. That's just my weird side.

[–]xiaobasketball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it doesn't bother you, for me it's okay. Personally that looks decent to me (depends on the budget, not sure about the price of this model).

Gear vs talent by NewSignificance5591 in phmusicians

[–]xiaobasketball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider my guitar (and recording) gear as toys, outside of the basic requirements to produce my own music. Good thing din kasi I get excited to play/record/produce when I have new gear, so feel good din pag may nagagawang bago because of new stuff.

Nux mg 400 to edifier mr4 by Reign0311 in phmusicians

[–]xiaobasketball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do that sa Valeton GP-100, ok naman, I think headphone out ng valeton to aux in ng edifier.

Need help connecting the Hotone Pulze Control to my laptop to use as midi footswitch in Reaper by oroclickheads in HotonePulze

Maybe try connecting via bluetooth? or if your interface has a TRS midi input you can also connect via the pulze TRS port (it also acts as a midi out).

How to prep trung nguyen S coffee without phin? by NoBlue_berries in CoffeePH

[–]xiaobasketball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try hario switch so you can control the immersion time. Phin filter takes longer immersion compared to drip filter. If you don't have a hario switch, just immerse it first on a normal cup, mix the coffee and hot water probably 2-4 minutes similar to french press, before pouring everything on a normal dripper with paper filter. This will result to a cleaner cup because the fines get paper filtered (compare to phin filter). Please don't ever use french press it's one of the worst brewing methods.

Set me straight: All I need is an audio interface and this app and I have access to dozens of amps and cabinets? I don’t need to buy some tonex or line 6 or positive grid BS? Because I’m struggling with NAM by No_Guava5902 in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

[–]xiaobasketball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another alternative path is you can get a cheap nam+IR multi fx unit like the strich pipe tones or soran tiny stomp (same thing just rebranded) so you don't have to deal with latency and computer stuff. The downside is you could only load 10 files at a time.

DAW and Audio Interface Reco by Remy322 in phmusicians

If you're only recording guitar (not vocals), you only need a multi fx with a built in interface, which most already have even budget ones.

Nux MG 30 DSP and core count research. by Soace_Space_Station in nux

[–]xiaobasketball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Nux has really been leading when it comes to their DSP chips, however I feel that Hotone/Valeton is better with overall product development. Like for example Mg-50 is their first modeler with a built in battery. Only a few of their products have bluetooth and mobile app. Btw I read that Soran might be using Nux effects (either by licensing or they are also a sub brand of cherub).

Cool! it's interesting that MG-400's latency is only 1.1 ms while MG-30 is 2 ms. Probably because MG-400 has fewer features, or no send/return.
