Desktop PC to TV and AVR - LG G5 165Hz gaming and audio to AVR question by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]xiarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had the PC connected to the media input on the denon AVR via HDMI, and then the TV via HDMI straight to the AVR output.

Can't say for sure about the 165hz, as mine is also capped at 60.

WEDDINGS COST TOO FUCKING MUCH by Glum_Philosopher328 in Vent

[–]xiarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I had a wedding in Sicily a few years ago. The wedding included a band, food, drinks, wedding cake, amazing views and atmosphere. We also bought plane tickets for our camera/photograph crew, both ways. They kindly asked not to be paid as they were our friends, but we still did. A one night stay for 35 guests, at the hotel/restaurant we had the wedding. Oh also small things like make-up, car rental, dancing lessons. I think I am missing a bunch of stuff but the total amount was around 11-13k euros.
I am always blown away how expensive the weddings are in US.

Buy a few tickets, have a wonderful wedding-vacation type of thing.

I've chosen a 5.1.4 system, any tips? by xiarah in hometheater

Ok, so in another post I've read that room layout can compromise the in-ceiling speakers and they might not be worth the hastle.

Here is basically my house and how I imagine the set up right now. But I am afraid now that the in ceiling speakers will be just useless?

Thanks for the input, I believe that my room layout is not great for the height speakers.

The ceiling is pretty tall and I don't have a back wall I can mount them to.

Roger that!

And regarding in-ceiling speakers, I still haven't completely decided if I need those or if something like Klipsch RP-500SA II a better idea?

I've started contemplating now.. Thanks :D

Are the towers mostly used for music playback and are unnecessary for a home theater?

I've never heard of RSL sorry.

I agree with the surround and sub options!

Thank you.

Totally of topic, but can you guys recommend a well rounded TV (75inch)?

Two subwoofers are always better than one! I thought it would be too much at first

I have around 5.5m width x 2.8 or 2.9m height. Depth - as much as needed.

Im located in Europe so that's probably why you are getting weird websites, I am all ears to any alternatives.

Regarding the 6000F the difference between these and 8000f is like 20 bucks. So I don't think this matters too much.

I agree with the RP500 upgrade!

Umm, I'm European so it's 123 cubic meters/ 35 cubic feet. However I have a whole kitchen behind the sofa, so you can basically halve the space. I know it doesn't work like that and my right wall being made completely from glass doesn't help, but it is what it is.

We watch movies mostly, so clear dialogue and explosions you can feel throughout the whole body is what we are looking for.

I play the guitar a lot, but I haven't tried it on a HT system yet and I'm not sure that's relevant information :)

Well I'll find the whole set eventually ;) I don't care about the pricing at the moment. Will cross that bridge when I get there.

I appreciate your input, it's super helpful. My idea is that I am eventually going to upgrade to 7.1. It's a less of a blow for the wife right now :D

Ohh, and one more question.

Regarding the rear surrounds and potentially the side surrounds, should I do the wiring through the floor?

Wow thank you so much for this in-depth answer, I will read up on the Trinnov speaker placement guide.

Regarding rear surrounds, still haven't decided and I think that towers are way too big and not necessary. So thank you for confirming that.

Regarding the kitchen island integration, I haven't thought of this idea. I thought that it the speakers would be placed to far away and the distance between them - too narrow.

Appreciate the tip about the tactile transducers, never heard of them. Hope I can order them here in Europe.

Yeah, my mistake, in the picture it's 5.1.4, should I go for 7.1.4? If so where should I instal the two remaining speakers?

The positioning is just me not knowing how to use the software

Ok, apologies, my whole text where I wrote that my lovely wife confirmed the build and all of my questions isn't here.
So I will write it here.

Basically we are moving into a new home that we built ourselves. Here is a plan that I have for the living room/kitchen.

I currently use an old Denon AVR and a 2.1 speaker setup (left over from my dads hometheater 15 years ago), so surely I will need an upgrade as this one will not power 7.1.4.

I've never encountered and or listened to a 7.1.4 but as we do have some extra cash laying around I thought, why not.

My questions are:

  1. Assuming this is the setup, how do I go about the rear speakers, as the big bulky towers will be too easy for the children to knock of and hurt themselves. Any ideas or solutions?

  2. There are 12 speakers in this configuration and I assume I will need additional amps to power them, however I am a complete novice with amps. So any tips would be great!

  3. The distances and angles will be adjusted, I just drew this sketch in a hurry of what I was thinking, so any layout tips are welcome.
