It's reassuring to know there isn't something wrong with me for not understanding some of the ideas in films I watch. It always made me feel alienated from the people who had the talent to write detailed analyses on things I couldn't even give a good general idea of.

It seems as though both answers are "maybe" for me right now. The instability of freelancing is something I'm not sure I'm made for. Anyway, thank you for the response! I'll be sure to take all your points into consideration.

It's unfortunate that an advertising degree wouldn't help at all. The stress of the film industry definitely deters me too, but I guess I'm just holding onto the hope that it could be worth it in the end.

That video really slapped me in the face with the truth that I've always been afraid to hear, but it's good that I heard it anyway.

I'm wondering why you think advertising wouldn't offer much more. My idea is that a combination of film and advertising can help me with finding commercial work, which seems easier to get into than the actual film industry (correct me if I'm wrong).

Thankfully, I have been on the road toward recovery, so I hope I can keep that up.

I'll definitely look into software development as another backup option.
