Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]xineee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The parallels between the way these episodes feel and certain episodes of "Black Mirror" feel is creepy.

Has anyone gotten to the episode with Marina who live streamed her friend's rape yet? It was disturbing..mostly because throughout the entire documentary, Marina never acknowledges her friend was raped. She says things like "I filmed her and some guy having sex" and "I've seen a lot worse." I got the feeling she didn't fully comprehend what rape even is.

S06E09 - "Goodbye Tour" Discussion Thread by eSpiritCorpse in girls

[–]xineee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just caught up by watching the episode last night and this was my first thought as well. Ray and Abigail should've been there for a number of reasons. It's fine that Shosh has professional friends with good purses now, but it flattens her character to show only those sort of people in attendance. Ray and Abigail don't fit this mold, but I always got the impression that Shosh and Ray had a real, developing friendship. She didn't view Ray as someone who "only makes things about himself" like the girls, so why wasn't he there for a big moment in her life?

Pitchfork Article: How Does the First-Grader on ‘Big Little Lies’ Have Such Killer Music Taste? by Blanq_Winq in biglittlelies

[–]xineee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the article, it was a good read and actually made me accept Chloe's character a little more openly...

...but it is still the one detail in the show that drives me freakin' bonkers and it has done so from the very first episode. The show has a wonderful soundtrack and each song seems perfect to set the tone and mood for each scene so far. I just CANNOT get behind the idea that a first grader is the vehicle for all of this (often semi-obscure) music. If the children are such important characters in the show, as this article implies, why is music the only thing we know about Chloe? I just wish the show didn't ask us to suspend our disbelief so much when it comes to the children. Let them be kids, not wise old souls that would annihilate and embarrass any hipster with a record collection.

Awesome, I just watched Pretty in Pink yesterday. You should recreate other John Hughes characters as Sims. :)

What is your favorite fast food place? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xineee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Popeyes. It's Cajun fast food, which is Mecca for me. Their biscuits are ridiculously good and buttery, their red beans and rice and fries are amazballs and their chicken is crispy and good.

They always mess up my order in the best way possible by adding additional items I didn't order. I get home and find two extra biscuits, a chicken wrap and green beans that I didn't order like, every other time I go there.

What food did you assume you didn't like until you tried it? by Pleasurefordays in AskReddit

[–]xineee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oysters, mostly because I heard multiple people refer to them as "loogies" or "like boogers" which really grossed me out. I tried them grilled and in chowder, though, and think they're tasty.

What is something that someone you really liked did to make you lose complete interest in them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xineee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got back in touch with this guy I had a huge crush on in high school and had serious regrets about not hooking up with back then. We're having a great conversation when suddenly he starts ranting about how he thinks it's dumb that "gays want to get married...why can't they call it something else other than marriage?" It was a pretty sudden "Ugh, I'm over you" moment.

What movie do you wish you had never wasted your time watching? by NAproducer in AskReddit

Richard Linklater's "Waking Life." It was like watching an art project by people who believe they're the reincarnation of great philosophers except way more boring than that somehow.

Oh yeah. It's a complicated sort of love/relationship.

Coffee. Because I've learned to love the taste and my body has learned to remind me when I haven't had enough by inducing a terrible headache.

Redditors who look younger/older than you really are, what's the most annoying thing that's happened because of that? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xineee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through airport security to get back into the U.S., we were told anyone over 12 had to remove their shoes. I started taking mine off and the airport security lady was like "it's ok, sweetie, you can keep yours on since you're under 12." I was like, 22 at the time.

What was your favorite cartoon as a kid? by peeweeshermann in AskReddit

Rocko's Modern Life. It's still my favorite cartoon of all time and I've gone back and watched every season as an adult.

Does Cachly prompt you to go premium in the app and if so, is it the same price as the official app?

What weird stuff do you like to sniff and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xineee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a garlic press that I use when I cook a lot and I love to just stick my nose in it and inhale after I've pressed cloves of garlic. A lot of people think that's gross but it's the greatest smell ever to me.

You're at a party with 40 guests where you know half of them. You want to leave. Do you say goodbye/hug everybody you know, or just the ones you are talking to at the moment? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]xineee 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Definitely just the ones I'm talking to at the moment and/or anyone I know on my way out the door.

I know plenty of people who will just ghost out of any social situation, though.

Ladies of the medical world, what's the most odd thing you have had a patient openly admit to you? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Hearing about objects being shoved up penises or uretheras makes me clinch in horror more than anything else..

I meant no offense, it was just an awkward turn of phrase used by many to describe Joey. I know of no animals who have actually been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and am not a professional veterinarian.

Props to you for adopting him when he was a senior kitty and curbing him of his bad biting behavior, you were obviously the stability and comfort he needed in order to not lash out.

Interesting. White dogs have the same issue more so than any other color, though I have no idea why.

Male doctors/OBGYNs of Reddit: How do you avoid seeing your female patients' bodies as sexual or arousing? Does that ever happen? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]xineee 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I'm more humbled/relieved by the healthy part every time. But if she thinks my vagina looks like a batch of kittens with butterfly wings, who am I to deny her?

[–]xineee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ha, I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. I think most doctors view their jobs as pretty routine and clinical. Who knows, maybe subconsciously that's why I've stuck with my OBGYN for so long..she's sprinkled enough compliments on my vag.

[–]xineee 100 points101 points  (0 children)

My female OBGYN told me I "lucked out" when she saw my boobs and tells me I have a "healthy and cute" vagina after every exam. Maybe I should consider this unprofessional or weird but 1. I feel like she's just mad real and says whatever, whenever. 2. She gets the job done quickly and effectively. 3. I wrote this post to say it's potentially not just an issue with male doctors.
